Is a 787 being parted out at VCV?

Sat Sep 22, 2018 5:59 pm

According to ATDB.org, production #17 (which was NTU by Chrystal Luxury Cruises) is being parted out at VCV. I thought it was just in storage there. Can anyone confirm status?

This aircraft is owned by Crystal. They’ve trying to sell it for a while.

That would be a very early end,if that is true.
One of the test frames have been parted out already, but this would be the first production frame to bite the dust.

One month ago it was still intact and even had engines.

Did this plane have an interior installed? Or was it still a green frame?

That picture was taken in April, see the description.

I doubt that it's already fully parted out. But maybe they have found a buyer for the engines?

It had an interior installed, but if I remember correctly it was all business class.

It's another case of fake news with "experts" putting 2 and 2 together from the N reg cancellation and getting 5. . The plane is currently under Boeing's maintenance and storage program, tier 1 support and is currently for sale through a Swiss company.

Looks like it was delivered back to the carrier to be put into service based on the description in that link. Happened on 31 August.
Don't sweat the little things.

The thread is not in reference to the Latam 787, rather the one in storage behind it in the photo posted above.
People are saying. Believe me.

I was just looking back at old articles - weight reductions were implemented an LN7, LN20, and LN100. I don't know how much for each, and if any of those reductions were incorporated during the rework this airframe went through.

I assume one of the challenges selling this airframe is significant differences compared to most of the rest of the fleet, and the paperwork involved in maintaining it.
