Eurowings changes the strategy

Mon Sep 24, 2018 2:35 am

Eurowings was planning to incorporate its Airbus A340-300 intercontinental fleet, but the plans have changed now LH decided to incorporate five (5) Airbus A330-300 to its current fleet from the same LH fleet and the A343 will be returned back to LH, on the other hand, LH will maintain a fleet between (17-19) Airbus A340-600 and some stored will return to its fleet to increase certain routes.

EW has a strategy to focus strongly on Dusseldorf and new routes such as Newark (EWR) and Las Vegas (LAS), and seasonal destinations such as Bangkok (BKK) and Havana (HAV) will be maintained throughout the year. I expect more growth of EW in DUS that is needed, I believe that the integration to Star Alliance would be important to add more destinations to the route network and have more strength in the market.

I hope that the next future will continue adding missing routes in the route network

Not sure EW will stop flying 340´s. My friend at SN told me last week SN is still looking for A340 CPT+FO for their DUS base.

Interesting to see that they're getting rid of the 3 youngest Q400's (LGW, ex-AB). I wonder who bought them.

I’m confused with LHs strategy sometimes.
EW seems impossible to keep on top of, especially long haul. And then there’s the ‘jump’ operation and the SN A340 opps... makes my head spin.
A319, A320, A321, A330-200, A350-900, A380, 737-700, 737-800, 777-200ER, 777-300, 777-300ER, 787-8, Q300, Q400

The Jump op is closing up -- those routes will be flown by mainline pilots now. But yes. A total nightmare to keep up with.

Glad I'm not the only one ! So thank you to our German A-netters for trying to keep on top of this subject and keep us all in the loop with news.

...and from what I've heard from those who flew here (Windhoek) on Eurowings, something of a nightmare to experience.

The five A333 going to Brussels Airlines...oops I mean Eurowings are D-AIKA, AIKG, AIKH, AIKJ.

D-AIKJ has been painted in LHTeknik Malta, ready for delivery.

D-AIKA to be OO-SFK
D-AIKJ too be OO-SFJ

Yes indeed. Somehow some of the local German A-netters getting out of their mind also with the constant change in strategy too. Imagine all the cost saving they can use without all these complex paperwork, fleet repainting, crew and aircraft swapping??

Was there a recent thread in A.Net on LH Group updates, it was also regarding EW. I seems to be not able to find it anymore.
