Questions about La Compagnie

Wed Sep 26, 2018 4:18 pm

Have not heard of this one before. La Compagnie, a French airline flying from ORY to EWR, will now have A321 with just 74 seats. With just 74 seats they will certainly be nice to fly on but hard to generate substantial profits, especially since they call them self a LCC. AA struggles with profits on A321T which is why they will be converted to standard 16F 171Y.

Simply replacing their all business class 757s with newer A321.

Order was announced last year >> viewtopic.php?t=1368819

Is this info confirmed? I have been following the AA thread for a while and have never heard about it...

When was this announced? Last interview I heard was the performance on the trans con product was doing well, I was actually hoping they might come up with a smaller f/biz class version of the a321t to go up against mint.
1.4mm and counting...

I find this hard to believe, unless AA is also planning to return to internationally-configured widebody service on JFK-LAX. This route in particular has heavy premium demand and AA is not about to let JetBlue Mint take over the market.

As for La Compagnie...such things have been tried before, remember EOS, MaxJet, SilverJet? They operate for a few years but never survive the next economic downturn or spike in fuel prices. I wish them the best because they provide a great value option for an outdated but perfectly adequate business class product. I wouldn't pay $5000 for a transatlantic roundtrip no matter how great the product, but being able to buy an angled lie-flat business class seat for around $1400 is a great option for something better than coach that won't break the bank. Sadly the corporate traffic will prefer the network airlines, and ventures like this will have to make it on the premium leisure market alone, which is going to be tough.

This is just crazy. AA's JFK-LAX is the 4th highest route in the world by revenue, and while revenue does not necessarily equal yield, theres no chance they are punting on this route.

Aa is definitely not taking a321t out of service. They are just standardizing all the other a321.

I have been meaning to try out la compagnie. Maybe the next time I go to Paris. They do get pretty good load factor at the price point they set.

La Compagnie is part of XL Airways...but does ORY-EWR. These two A21Ns are on lease from GECAS and will replace the two leased 757s from AerCap and FI (the latter likely to launch a new route with it).

You've made a number of baseless assertions here. How do you reconcile that La Compagnie has already been in the market for 4 years flying an all business class product with your claim that it will be "hard to generate substantial profits?" Also, where is the sourcing on your AA claims?

AA747123 thinks if she repeats it enough times, it will come true.

Check out her contributions in this thread from 11 months ago. SSDD.

Wow, if you've not heard of La Compagnie, then I'm really wondering whether you belong in an international aviation forum.

As everyone has pointed out, there's no way in hell this complete nonsense is happening. Nor would it even be considered. I do JFK-SFO monthly and JFK-LAX 2-3 times a year in J and both premium cabins are consistently full.
