In 2017 ,Gatwick handle 97k tons cargo , which is only 1/15 of Heathrow and 1/3 of stansted
and when pax traffic of LGW rise 2/3 in 15years , cargo operation declined mote than a half
So why LGW has limited cargo operation?

For starters UK freight forwarder industry is built around LHR. Much of the LGW cargo is thus actually trucked from LHR.
For STN due easy slot access became base for integrator parcel operators.

Gatwick, just like Heathrow, has very few dedicated cargo operations. It's almost exclusively belly cargo. However the difference is that at Heathrow most airlines are legacy airlines, they do haul cargo. At Gatwick the largest airline is EasyJet, they don't haul cargo. Same is true for lots of other flights out of Gatwick.
Stansted has a lot of dedicated cargo flights, so that makes they got a huge number. Together with East Midlands they are the dedicated cargo gateway into the UK.

It also doesn't help that Gatwick is in completely the wrong place for freight as well. Heathrow is much closer to London for couriers and the airports like East Midlands have better road links to the rest of the country and are more central.

LGW is more belly focused while LHR and STN has belly and freighter operations.

LGW has no dedicated cargo flights at all. Even the early morning Aurigny newspaper and mail flight doesn't go from there anymore.
