Future A380 Customers And Routes

Mon Oct 01, 2018 3:49 am

Any planned or likely A380 customers, routes, frequency changes, removal of routes, etc.
Why do I like the A380 so much?

EK will order more, but beyond that who knows. ANA ordered 3 in 2016, since then it has just been EK for 20 this year, but added into the mix are six cancellations this year. I am sure Airbus would love to book a new major airline, but I couldn't name any airline that have RFP's out for the A380.

Routes outside of EK will continue to migrate to being for major hub to hub routes.

I don't believe ANA actually ordered any 380's; they were forced to take Skymark's previously-ordered aircraft as a condition of absorbing that airline.

Other than EK... I think everyone else is looking at more-efficient twins.

Yes ANA was at least coerced to take the 3 380s as they absorbed Skymark, but 3 of the 6 Skymark ordered were cancelled.

The A350 and the B787 are the two WB's that are selling well, every other WB the market is 'slow'.

They didn't take over Skymark's order. Instead they agreed to make a new order as a condition to get Airbus support in taking over Skymark while the original Skymark orders were cancelled.
When no other countries around the world is going to militarily stop China and its subordinate fom abusing its citizens within its national boundary, it is unreasonable to expect those abuse can be countered with purely peaceful means.

ANA will order more; their 777-300ERs only seat 212 yet demand for Japan is surging. I can also see IAG placing an order — top-up for BA and some for Iberia. And with the opening of the new airport at Istanbul, Turkish.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

Can we expect the big European legacies to order more / replacement aircraft ?

Lufthansa, Air France, British Airways ?

I would be surprised if Lufthansa won't be ordering replacement aircraft ...

I have some concerns when it comes to Iberia adding a super jet like the A380. Although especifically MEX and EZE could work on such a big offer, (they are both flown up to 3x A340 daily) I can’t still picture the A380 in such a conservative fleet, like the Iberia’s.

Not so sure we’ll see any new A380 operators in its current format.

BA had been considering a top-up order a year or two ago but that seems to have gone by the wayside now.

BA/IB, TK, GA, AT, UU, and the CH4 as a signal to Mr45 as well as all existing A380 operators minus QF and EY (Both shifting strategies all the time and having a difficult position and are as a result all over the place).

BA could use few more to operate A380 to DXB and CPT in the winter and LAS, DFW and HND in the summer.
