Mon Oct 01, 2018 3:58 pm

Do you think we will see AA to come back on that route in 2019?

It's bookable for next summer, so I would say odds are decent.

AA is defending its turf TATL from DFW hence routes like DFW-DUB.

It was specifically mentioned in the European expansion release that it will return. It is loaded for 6JUN19-26OCT19 eastbound, 7JUN19-27OCT19 westbound.

There was a pretty strong rumor that EI would rejoin OneWorld and start flights to DFW. If EI intended that I would say AA has effectively headed them off at the pass.

But EI is now owned by IAG and is also rumored to enter the TATL JV at some point.

I think DUB is part of an expansion push, less a defending turf. But that's my opinion - I see it different than the KEF flight.

Any chance AA could start an additional KEF flight from the east coast? DFW is quite the backtrack for a lot of the US population.

Could, say PHL-KEF, be done with an A321neo?

I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem for an A321NEO, or even an A321 of the current generation. Flying from the North East to KEF is within range and there is no ETOPS restriction. The aircraft doesn't necessarily have to be ETOPS to fly, let's say from BOS, IAD, JFK or PHL, to KEF. Doesn't the A321 already fly LAX-HNL? If it can fly LAX-HNL then it can fly PHL-KEF.

I am surprised that they will start the route so late in the season. All of May should be nicer in Iceland compared to October. A early May start to late September would be a better fit.

Easy considering WOW already does KEF-BWI with a CEO.

I'm sure they could. But with rock bottom fares to KEF on WW and FI, I am not sure AA wants to. They only announced KEF from DFW when the other two decided to fly there.

They are flying DFW-KEF as a protect-the-house flight. A 752 doesn't cost a ton to operate and they can depress yields even further by adding capacity.

Seriously? That's like saying "Paris doesn't have any international flights but you can fly internationally from ORY or CDG." It's comments like yours that make every DFW thread end up being locked by moderators.
