LF to Announce New Route from MCN 10/3

Tue Oct 02, 2018 5:00 pm

Contour Airlines is planning to announce a new destination or two from MCN (Macon, GA) in addition to the BWI service they already fly from Macon.

Per the Middle Georgia Regional Airport's Facebook page, the announcement is tomorrow.

Any guesses? I guessed BNA.

MCN-BNA has been tried before and did terribly (granted, I believe that was Georgia Skies on a Caravan).

I'm guessing MCN-SFB seasonal.

LF is poised to takeover EAS routes from CLT to PKB and BKW from Via AIr so maybe MCN gets CLT service as well. Only if interline with AA will it work very well. BWI works well for MCN with more O/D and self connect to WN

AA won't interline with DOT Part 380s though :( :( Otherwise LF is a prime candidate.

They already do; Via's PKB and BKW service to Charlotte is operated under Part 380 and has the interline to AA.

I thought it was done under their Scheduled 121 authority - and BKW was the AEAS route?

Part of the issue with DOT 380 deals with the handling of cash and the escrow accounts. It took quite a bit of time for JetSuite/Jetblue to even appease the DOT, and it was only because JetBlue is a partial owner of JetSuite did they get a 'nod' that it was OK.

I know the DOT 380 issue got the rouse of the lawyers at Expedia and Priceline, and pretty much wiped out all AEAS/DOT 380's from their systems, which is a shame :(

LF (Contour) doesn't interline period. It saves money not interlining. At OAK is not a big deal, you get off the plane and the baggage might already be waiting for you, so it isn't a deal at least at OAK.

Is all of the MCN flying going to be on the Jestream, or is LF pulling up more ex-CO E135's from the desert? I thought they only had two 135s in service, and extending the current CEC-OAK onward to SBA and LAS is going to be a stretch on that aircraft. One delay/mx and they day is shot. Granted having the plane just sitting all day in OAK is a waste, but then the CEC-OAK-CEC on time performance has been remarkable. (And 85% Load Factor.) As mentioned in our favorite Sunday OAG thread, LF is extending PHX-PGA to LAS, and one poster proposed it could be one long milk-run CEC-PHX. But there aren't enough hours in the day for that to work. So that should continue with the minimum of two aircraft.
Worked for WestAir, Apollo Airways, Desert Pacific, Western, AirCal and American Airlines (Retired). Flight Memory: 181 airports, 92 airlines, 78 a/c types, 403 routes, 58 countries (by air), 6 continents. 1,119,414 passenger miles.

Home airport : CEC

Wingtips according to AirFleets LF currently operates five E-135. #3201 looks it goes CEC-OAK-SBA-LAS - 2x PGA. PGA-PHX operates with a #3300 series flight number. Somewhere the plane will need some kind maintenance.

Looking at the LAS-PGA schedule, the day I looked at seemed the planes pass each other between PGA and LAS.

Since MCN-BWI is ERJ now, all MCNM will not be Jetstream service it would seem.
Riddle: Which lasts longer, a start-up airline or a start-up football league?

I'm going to guess BNA as well - with a E135. Embraer Aircraft Maintenance has their base in BNA and just opened the MCN facility recently. Chance to move people and parts between the two facilities?

Hmmm.... interesting

LF has sent one of their aircraft to three places in the past few weeks - all seem a little odd but certainly not impossible imo

One of their E135s has been to JWN (Nashville's John Tune Airport), BDL, and FNL (Northern Colorado Regional) from MCN in the past several weeks. As noted upthread, BNA and BDL seem like possibilities, and FNL - while slightly out there - has been heavily pushing for a return to commercial service after G4 left and Elite tried a failed experiment

Both PKB and BKW were operated with the Brasilia Part 135 under AEAS. Interline is ok in the eyes of DOT because the tickets have separate fares and the revenue is allocated accordingly between the two carriers (and between the corresponding public charter segment and traditional scheduled segment). Codeshare on the other hand between an AEAS flight and a scheduled service flight poses some issues. That may be why JetSuiteX doesn't offer connectivity to B6 as part of a single ticket.

I know that Contour worked hard to get back into the online travel agencies such as Expedia and Priceline and it is now possible once again to book their AEAS routes on those sites.

Contour also utilizes the ERJ for Charter activity, which is what is described above.

Actually I cannot verify seasonality as they only load 6 months out on their website it appears!
