DL200/201 New Suites

Sat Oct 06, 2018 4:06 pm

Does anyone know when DL 777 200/201 flights will receive the new Suites? Such a long haul route - would seem to me DL would install on this sector sooner rather than later. Thanks.

I think it would coincide with the introduction of the suites on the 777LR.....until then it would be status quo

The first batch of converted 77L will be allocated to LAX-SYD route so don't expect ATL-JNB route until later during the W19-20 schedule. As far as i am aware, during this winter, all the 772s will complete conversion with ~3 77Ls. The remaining 77Ls will be converted next winter.

With very little competition to JNB from that part of the US, what's the rush? That will be the last city that DL will utilize the refurbished 777 on.

For DL, LAX-SYD-LAX, does the 77L or 359 make more sense? Why?

I know DL only have 8 ER's but it's impressive that they will have all done this winter slow season.....plus rumbling of 764 prototype being done also

The one they've decided to keep on the route for the foreseeable future, despite the option to have either....

I do know that Delta is, as of the past couple weeks, requiring its 764 pilots to have a Chinese visa, because of planned major maintenance in China this winter that will require pilots to fly in/out. Previously, because the 764 didn't serve China, they didn't need Chinese visas. So I'd say something is afoot.

Isn't the B764 the same pilot pool as the B763 which they already fly SEA-PEK, SEA-PVG?

Nope. Delta uses one group to fly the 757 and 767-300 (from all bases) and another just for the the -400 (out of ATL and JFK). I believe the -400s have the updated 777 style flight deck.
When in doubt, one B pump off
