I'm hearing rumors of a serious and troubling issue with the refurbished 320s. Something about new galley plumbing leaking onto the jackscrew, subsequently freezing and jamming the tail control. My source indicates there have been a number of emergencies declared? This was the first I've heard of it and I don't see any posts on this thread relating to this supposed issue.

Supposedly that issue caused the only landing in direct law that I’ve (anecdotally) ever heard of outside the sim environment.

I hope that’s true. I could see B6 finishing the 320s and then upgrading the 321ceo to the phase 2 product first and finishing with the phase 2 320s.

Looks like I'll be busy in SAL when I get back on Wednesday LOL. Based on my itinerary we will also be going through Phase 2 preparation meetings while I'm there so that should be interesting since I've only been working on Phase 1 aircraft but have brought in multiple aircraft worth of the Phase 2 seats already.

I really don’t get the point of the Phase 1 refit with Phase 2 being right around the corner the entire time.

Phase 2 included an IFE system that needed certification (STC), which Thales and B6 weren't ready for until now. That would have delayed the entire program by a year. Meanwhile, there are multiple aircraft flying around with a much needed new interior and an improved IFE system (LTV2 to LTV4) that matches the A321s flying in the fleet.

Flew 529 on Tuesday lovely aircraft interior now, very happy except the rear toilet that looks like a cupboard section on the outside and you need to be a size 4 on the inside to move around, I am not a size 4

Currently sitting on 705 and wow what a difference, definitely showing her age in comparison, for a 2am redeye it’s ok..

Flew on 595 today -- noticed there was a nice badge with the plane name ("Lucky Blue") visible on the side of the galley when you entered. Is that standard, or something special for the Celtics livery?

Interestingly the FlyFi still believed the plane was called Rhythm & Blue -- which suggests no changes to that system as part of the refit.

The seats badly need some lumbar cushioning but don't seem too badly padded. The touchscreen isn't particularly responsive, though; scrolling through the list of movies was nearly impossible.

Was surprised to see the credit card reader integrated -- does B6 still charge for any IFE content? Pictures of the Phase 2 interior don't seem to have it.

The badge with plane name is standard on all retrofits. https://twitter.com/DonUselmann/status/ ... 0400004096

While I was in BOS a few weeks ago I noticed they have also integrated this into the gate displays!

I am happy to see B6 embracing their planes identities again showing tail colors and plane names prominently. Personally I think it would be cool if this symbol was enlarged a little!

My first time flying B6 about a month after starting service to BOS I remember the gate attendant showing my here lanyard which had pins featuring all of the different tail designs. It was a spirit I loved, and sadly I have seen a much smaller variety of tail designs besides the one off designs. Especially with the A321 fleet all featuring the same design. I am happy though to see a new design coming on the first 321 neo!

Jetblue doesn’t charge for any type of IFE anymore. The seats probably still have he card reader slot because it would of been an unnecessary expense to remove it on the seats and or it’s already built into the seats and can’t be taken out.

There was a total quantity of phase 1 aircraft contracted until the Avant STC was approved and production on Avant kits from Thales could begin with standard 8130s instead of "prototype" ones. The last phase 1 is in SAL now and SAL will spool up starting the end of the month with Avant mods (phase 2) then going up to 4 or 5 lines. It will be very busy for us in SAL LOL!

Ahhh makes sense I suppose. I thought I just remember a blurb internally about B6 only expecting 10 or so Phase 1 birds, but it’s been doubled now.

Not at the moment. 729 is the only one with the new system. Rumor has it that, that plane was done as a test bed for the new system to work out any bugs.

How often do refitted A320s fly routes from JFK to the Caribbean? If the seat map currently shows the old A320 configuration, how likely is it that they'll swap to a refitted plane the day of?

Not likely. They build the lines of flying for the retrofitted airplanes months ahead and try to keep them on those lines. This is mainly due to the change in number of FA's required.

N632JB (Phase 1 refit) will exit BFM this weekend with a Boston Bruins special livery. Here is an excerpt from a leak:

"Just in time for the NHL (National Hockey League) Eastern Conference Finals, we're taking our partnership with the Boston Bruins to new heights!"

"This weekend, we'll welcome back tail 632 (one of our Phase 1 restyled A320s) back from the paint shop, sporting a brand-new livery dedicated to Boston's pro hockey team. Stay tuned for more photos once we're done putting on the finishing touches!"

It’s about time they painted an NHL livery. They’ve gotta do one with the Florida Panthers next given their partnership with each other and the huge FLL base.

It sure seems that way. I know I’ve heard that they want to do about 5/mo. And I just read something on our employee website there will be about 35 more planes finished this year which backs up the 5/mo with 7 months left for the year.

I don’t know if 598 is getting repainted or not. I hope it isn’t.

I just noticed 662 was ferried back to JFK from LCQ, landed just before 5:50pm local time. Was this ship in for mods? Was only there for 5 days, seems rather quick for that?

Every plane that is on the Phase 1/2 lists are the ones being modified (in addition to 594. 662 was probably there for a maintenance check. Each mod seems to be taking about a month to complete per plane.

Yes, it’s still is. Jets that get repainted or special liveries usually go to BFM.

The list I have doesn’t show 705 going in for p2. But it is a Sunday so it might not get updated till tomorrow sometime. Chances are it is a MOD.

Tail 763JB (B6 retro) seems to have returned to service today starting off with a BNA turn from BOS. The list I have access to still doesn’t reflect this or any new updates to new tails. So if anyone has some insit feel free to update the list as well.
