UAL 787-8 in HKG since Oct 16

Thu Oct 25, 2018 2:21 am

UAL 787-8 (N27901) has been in HKG since 2018 October 16. This plane is near and dear to me as it was the first Dreamliner I flew on, back in early 2015 (SFO --> KIX)

Why is it in HKG? Maintenance? Charter? Something else?

Thank you!

Oh interesting. Thanks for the info. I thought most US carriers' mx work is done in Latin America. I guess China makes sense too.

United is on a HAECO kick right now

but in general US wide bodies are done in Asia. They love Latin America for cheap narrowbody work though.

Indeed. They used to do it at AMECO (a subsidiary of CA) before it was ripped of heavy maintenance right by CAAC.
