Looks like LY has no more 787 on order. When will the B763 be pulled, they seem to be on average 22,5years old.

INteresting that LY seems to operate the 787 on the longest legs and the 777 on the shortest long haul, regardless of capacity. Must be profitable for them to do this like this.
Many happy landings, greetings from The Netherlands!

YYZ will be a 763 until 13JAN19, PEK will be on a 763 until 31JAN19. YYZ goes 789, PEK returns to 772. BCN will be a 739 this winter mostly with a few 787 and 777's thrown in between. 4XEAN today operates its last scheduled service for the airline to AMS and back. EAL/J/M remain in the fleet (EAM/L leased, EAJ owned by LY. EAM will be used by the Israeli PM until conversion of his own 763 is completed, probably sometimes in 2019 Q1)
Next 787-9 4XEDH "Beer Sheva" will be delivered to TLV on Wednesday morning.

Glad to hear BOS is getting the 777. It's always nice to see an airline upgrade the route, even if it's somewhat forced by an aircraft's retirement.

I've always wondered why they don't put the 787 on the BOS route, though. If they felt the 767 was an ideal aircraft for the route, wouldn't the similarly-sized 787 be a better choice?

The 763 for LY is configured 22J/196Y, 218 overall. Prior to the 772 going through a cabin improvement project, the 777s are 6F/35J/238Y, or 279 in aggregate. The BOS route will have the F cabin operated and sold as J. The 789 is 32J/28W/222Y or 282 in total, so it’s actaully not a huge capacity jump as currently configured.

Longer term I suspect BOS will eventually get the 787, but LY is sending the Dreamliners to more competitive markets (EWR, JFK, LAX, YYZ and a few LHR/CDG turns to increase utilization) until the 777s get reconfigured.

Just my opinion — I flew LY 789 last week EWR-TLV-EWR. I was so disappointed with the (dis)comfort of the Economy seats. Since LY’s 777s are still configured 3-3-3, I wish I they were still used on longer-haul routes.

Any chance of a top off order for 789'S or 787-10'S for routes requiring more seats?

LY is still waiting for the deliveries of further 787s, including the 788 for a total of 15 a/c. They have more 787 options.

El Al's 747s and 767s are known visitors in GVA during the winter season. Wonder if we might see 787s operating instead.
