Anyone else going out to the Hill/Bridge/In-n-Out to spot her arrival?

The A380 hasn't been to LAX since 2016.

Is this flight with the ULR version with all business and premium econ or is it the regular 359?

So SFO is operated with the regular A350-900, but LAX is with the ULR?

Yes, SEA will be the plain vanilla/regular joe/average everyday A350 too.

Interesting. Do they expect LAX to be a more premium market? Or is the 300-mile flight difference exactly the efficiency cut off between the regular and ULR models?

Yes, but SFO will be getting an additional 3 weekly flights with the ULR.

I noticed something interesting: the flight took off approximately at 9PM Friday Singapore time and arrives approximately at 9PM LA time the same day. I will not be out to see its arrival. A friend is coming next week on the same flight. I will have him tell me about it.

I think a lot of premium demand + Cargo.

Crappy cell phone pic, zoomed in from far away: but here's the first Singapore A359ULR arriving tonight on the resumed nonstop from Changi.

She snuck in silently as a church-mouse; amazing how quiet these A350s really are!
(also amazing how few still op into LAX at this point, but that's a story for another thread)

Ouch, not what you want on a inaugural flight. Looks like the flight finally departed again at 5AM.

Hello everyone. Long time follower who finally decided to join. I was wondering in this scenario what kind of maintenance crews would be available at that time of night. I am guessing an airport the the size of LAX would have support available 24/7 to resolve the issue?

How would such a late departure affect crew hours? For such a long flight, I’d guess they don’t have a lot of leeway before timing out.

They're (obviously) not going to dump all or even most of it, likely just enough to get the aircraft down to MLW...

...assuming it was even that high over it in the first place:
They weren't at max load, and this flight wouldn't require the -ULR's max fuel capacity. Even EWR actually does not.

QF, UA, and AA all have significant mtx facilities at LAX; LH has considerable capabilities as well.

Nice pic, wish I could have made it too!

Re: the variety, it's the LAX curse and boon lol. A lot of the A350 operators use bigger equipment into LAX (QR, LH, CI, CX), but the variety from them is also great! Still, we get a fair few now, with this one and the DL, HX and sometimes OZ, PR. Looking forward to taking SQ 38 this December! :bouncy:

Indeed.

There was a time circa 2014ish where it seemed like we got virtually "nothing" besides A388s and 77Ws
Not that I have a problem with that, as they're too of my favorite aircraft; but it was amazing the percentage of intercon traffic they accounted for.

But yeah, it's remarkable the variety this gateway receives!

It's not a U.S. carrier. I don't think I have ever heard of such a thing a crew timing out outside of U.S. carriers but I could be wrong of course.

You think non-US carriers don't have time limits for their crews?

SIA have their own operation at LAX. They even do contract line MX for a few others.

I don't know if they're available 24/7 but I would assume with their workload there's probably someone around most of the time.

Has anyone looked at SQ 23. I know, I know different route.
But look at this, it seems that they are using the old 345 like half the time for this route, but only this route. The way there (SQ22) is always 359.

Anyone know why this is happening?
Im assuming is cause they don't have the metal yet to support the route yet.

It's a mistake; happens all the time on Flightaware. It's been years since SQ let go of its last A345. https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/sq21

SQ38|18NOV (SIN-LAX) is being operated by 9V-SMS, which is a normal A359. The originally scheduled A359ULR, 9V-SGB had technical issues. Flight delayed for almost 11 hours.

The good thing is that even if the -ULR was booked solid, all of those people could easily be accommodated on a standard A359 while leaving enough open seats for the ship to cover the (range) distance.

Though I do wonder if they had to downgrade people who'd booked J, or send them via NRT or SFO in open J seats?
