What assets, the few assets they had are gone. The workforce is gone. If they count as an asset the name, I would assume that is gone too, at least in regards to being an asset.

Skuli purred a big part, perhaps half of his assets into WOW air. But enough is enough. I hope he does not get a bit together and does something else.

He should already know that the fastest way to be a millionaire, is being a billionaire and starting an airline.

No, just fewer N-American destinations and more of a balance between O&D and connections, a smaller and more uniform fleet (read: no stupid widebody acquisitions) and a more simple operation in terms of fare classes and staff. It might have merit if WOW was starting today as an unknown entity, but the brand must be tarnished beyond retribution at this point.

:checkmark: People haven't forgotten about it yet! If he does relaunch it he should bring back its original name Iceland Express, complete with their beautiful livery. Wow is a silly and unprofessional name for an airline.

Wake now, discover that you are the song that the morning brings

The issue with that is the names limits perception to Iceland rather than connection traffic through KEF. The Wow name certainly sticks in one's mind like many other dot com names. Bigger picture, would need a different model and more conservative management. There's the saying about businesses growing themselves out of business. Who would invest in a 2.0 version with the same CEO?

Skuli probably has far too much emotional involvement with this as a project, which is usually a bad thing in business. If he wants to get back into air transport again, he needs to take 6 months out and possibly see a good psychologist to work through all his feelings - bankruptcy of your own company is a somewhat traumatic event

Come 2020, he will be in a much better place to plan what to do next

There must be a bad karma thing because that riddiculous name also signals epic failure. It had been used before by a defunct cargo alliance.

Most likely they will use another name.

Before WOW Air existed a number of forerunners did. Remember Iceland Express? Officially it was acquired by WOW Air, in reality WOW Air was based on the assets of Iceland Express.

Besides, some people are actually able to learn from their mistakes. WOW Air could not be saved, but during it's existence Skúli Mogensen (CEO) did gain a lot of knowledge. What to do and even more important, what not to do. He won't make the same mistakes again and in such he has become a better CEO.

It is not unheard of that owners let a company with a lot of debt in it go bust. Then they step in with a second company to acquire the assets. It's a way to get rid of the debt and start all over again. I guess this goes for airlines too.

They certainly wouldn't be the first airline to go bankrupt and revive the name. Its not like they had a fatal crash, such as Valujet. Braniff and Pan Am have been around 3 times now.

Norwegian would love to wet lease those A321's right now, and if Wow also can provide the crewing for it. They can get them back in the air pretty fast.

What investors in their right mind would throw money at a company that already failed .. and is being run by the same people who were incapable before?

And why should the government grant an operating license to a carrier that shut down abruptly, screwing thousands of people .. passengers, employees and creditors alike?

Bye WOW.

They should really stick with charters and one stop no plane change type flights (ex. BWI-KEF-DUB).

Seeing that Iceland is an island, wouldn't connecting passengers between Europe and the US and vice versa be the best option to tap into the larger markets instead of focussing on a smaller market to/from Iceland? Can two local airlines flying international exist side by side in Iceland?

Meanwhile across the pond, we had TF-WIN (rumored to be WOW's last airborne flight) at DTW from late March to early April before it was ferried to YMX for repainting into NK colors. I'm confused why it didn't go to Shannon but whatever.

Why would NK take that plane? Their entire A321 fleet is IAE V2500 while that is a CFM56 frame. It would make more sense for an airline like DL to take the frame on a lease-to-own deal (they are taking delivery of CFM-powered A321ceo frames).

As for LATAM, are they interested in finally taking GMA/GPA/JOY? (All 3 were LATAM NTU frames.)

More likely Norwegian as they are down a large number of AC with the Max not operating, they have had to suspend tons of their single aisle operations across the atlantic, but WOW would need to get going fast in order to provide wet lease operations for them.

Any additional updates on the stranded planes. Seems like the 320s make sense at Spirit. Makes me wonder if Delta or Frontier will want to jump on any and if Air Canada is interested in picking up a few more for their update or expand321 fleet.

TF-CAT still at EWR.

That makes more sense as they have IAE engines. TF-SIS is due to become N698NK, which will be owned by Spirit Airlines and not Avolon Aerospace. I would be surprised if Avolon didn't also sell TF-BRO outright. Its N number has not been determined yet, but N697NK and N699NK have both been reserved by Spirit.

What are the lessors gaining though from sales rather than lease placements?

I think they will also pick up OY-PAD msn 8288, currently stored. OY-PAB, OY-PAC, OY-PAD and OY-PAE were destined for Alitalia but ntu

OY-PAA msn 8145 and OY-PAF msn 8318 are with TAP now.

Based on this webpage (http://www.airliners.de/condor-a321-jet ... source=air), they will lease two ex-WW A321 from ALC.

Not sure which two they are taking though. WW used to have four A321 leased from ALC.

Has anyone heard stories from any of the pilots or staff working for WOW on the day they abruptly shut down? What happened to the crews that flew the planes into the outstations (BOS, EWR, etc.)? Their stories I imagine might be similar to some of the crews at Braniff.

Icelandair flew the crews home for free.
Nothing compares to taking off in an empty 757 with full thrust!

AC noted today they are taking 6 A321s from WW instead of 4. Any idea which are the additional 2?

Wondering if there was any update on TF-GPA. Last picture I saw of it was with a dump truck parked in front of it, as I read Isavia had impounded it. There was an article a few days ago saying it had been moved to a maintenance hangar and engines had been ran. Does this mean its been released and is soon due to move on to its new owners?
