Being a frount for an arms dealer at least seems plausible, trying to make a go of it as an airline does not.

So they plan an October launch? They plan to be a US Based Carrier? Can an AOC be obtained in that amount of time? Even transfer of an existing AOC after grounding takes more than 4-8 weeks. Getting both government approvals to operate would seem to take more time than that. Im sure those facilities in Iceland that were supposedly acquired thru bankruptcy are now accruing charges daily (everything in Iceland costs lots of $$) and dipping into the $85 mil that they supposedly have to operate this carrier.

The only reason this airline have 1% of survival if they got very good cargo contract. Drove past Icelandair 757 at IAD couple weeks ago, and it was all fish being unloaded in white plastic boxes

I don't think it has been mentioned before, but WOW's liquidators apparently canceled their contracts with Ballarin/Oasis Aviation in late July due to failed payments:

If this information is still up-to-date, it would mean Ballarin doesn't even have the rights to use the brand.

Also mentions that a US AOC has been procured.

Believe it when I see it... in all probability a wet-lease. The guy quoted there does not know one end of an airplane from the other.

They have since supposedly renegotiated the deal to buy some WOW assets, at least the brand. The failure to make a payment the first time is of course one of the many red flags around this whole thing. I will not believe this until there is actually a purple plane with paying passengers in the air.

Great news good to see them back in the air. WOW Air is a great brand and getting it back in the air sooner rather than later is the best approach. Good luck to them.

There was another article this week where MWAA said they know nothing about a timeline. Also, it was revealed that the new owner told Icelandic media she was working with MWAA to start in October before anyone at MWAA had talked to her...

Off topic, but there were rumors the original WOW forgot to contact the relevant authorities when they started service to Chicago and the first flight diverted to MKE. No idea if there's any substance to them, but it's a good story!

It's hard to really pin down what this is all about. Months of silence and then suddenly a website with a heavy focus on cargo and the revelation of strange Russia links. Whatever the plan is, it certainly isn't (and probably never was) a resurrection of WOW Air as we knew it.
