TK To Hire 1000 Pilots and 1600 Cabin Crew in 2019

Mon Nov 26, 2018 9:51 pm

As the new Istanbul Airport is ramping up and will be fully operational in 2019, TK with its growing fleet is hiring 1000 pilots and 1600 cabin crew in 2019. Where will they recruit the pilots from? Is TK pilot compensation competetive enough to lure foreign pilots as the weak Turkish Lira creates a disadvantage for the airline?

That is too few cabin crew for 1,000 pilots. What an I missing.
I cannot wait to get vaccinated to live again! Warning: I simulated that it takes 50%+ vaccinated to protect the vaccinated and 75%+ vaccinated to protect the vac-hesitant.

Currently has just under 11,000 cabin crew. The additional minus attrition will bring workforce target to about 11,500 by end of 2019. For pilots they need about 500 more in 2019 (I saw figure 492), so recruiting 1,000 will put them in good place as they move into 2020 with more retirements.

As a tidbit, for the last group of FA's, TK received over 30,000 applications in mere 2 weeks!

They will need to pretty much double the package to attract “first world” expats, however plenty of Eastern European and South American pilots are cheaper to hire and more willing to accept inferior remuneration packages.

I have to say the cabin crews at TK are very good looking people, not relevant to this thread except just feel moved to say that.

Thats great as they have a lot of applicants to pick from.
You could be the one to have better info regarding pilot compensation, are they paid in Turkish currency or $ or € and is the compensation package attractive compared to EU majors? Thanks

Well I guess if Jet Airways are still not paying staff that could be a good source.

Aren't these numbers a bit excessive for adding just 1 77F?

:shakehead:

Besides that recent 777F order, TK fleet is scheduled to grow by 36 frames in 2019 and 38 in 2020 per their Q3 investor update.

The airline is growing so needs more staff.

Are you only considering what you read on anet last week as future orders? TK has over 100 planes on order NB and WB planes on order.over 30 mew aircraft in 2019 alone.

Agree, they have to offer a much more attractive package and also offer some kind of currency protection in case of severe fluctuations (that’s if they don’t already) so people’s paychecks aren’t suddenly cut in half in Turkey’s unstable environment, also the South Americans and Eastern Europeans are becoming harder and harder to lure as they’re becoming aware they can also obtain the better contracts the “first world” expats you mention usually get.

The pilot pay package is nowhere near where it needs to be to attract experienced wide body Captains. You get what you pay for.

Uh, what?

Have a look at the Lira over the last 3 years. Also inflation is an issue. As long as there is no significant increase in the package they’re no option.

Yes while putting the public's safety at risk. Like we have seen in the Lion Air accident.
the truth does matter, guys. too bad it's often quite subjective. the truth is beyond the mere facts and figures. it's beyond good and bad, right and wrong...
