Is TK opening a base in GRU or are they hiring specific language-qualified F/As for their IST base?

The latter. TK has hired a group of foreign crew to assist in the language barriere on some of their routes. 31 of them are Colombian.

If and when O6 closes, would AD be considered for Star Alliance as a largely regional airline?

Just IST base. None foreigner airline have a base at GRU airport or any brazilian airport.

Well, BA had a base in GRU until last year or so... I think that was the last one.

Is there a reason why JJ/LA didn't make a move on these jets? Engine compatibility, age,....?

They probably do not need them. JJ A320s are flying out of Argentina to places such as LIM and SCL, so they must have slack where 4M, LA and LP don't. Azul is taking the NEOs.

What was wrong with the GRU-MIA flights? I do recall that toward the end the schedules became more like suggestions, and flights were leaving late because vendors weren’t getting paid until the last minute.

I flew MIA-GRU / GRU-MIA on O6 a couple of times, in the first months of operation. Although the aircraft had new interiors and seats, the onboard service was surprisingly really bad. Also, checkin and boarding in GRU and MIA was chaotic, flights always delayed.

Not that LA/JJ is any better, but when O6 launched the flights to MIA I thought that they would raise the bar.

Looking at O6's list of cancelled flights it appears they are only operating the CGH-SDU flights with the A318s?

The other news is that Azul is taking all the A320NEO's fleet and they are registered as PR-YYx. The A320CEO's will end up in another airlines and the rumour or possible airlines that will take it is IndiGo, AirAsia, AirBlue etc. There current active fleet as of May 1 is only an A318 and A319's.

If you meant Avianca Brazil, it has not been flying since first thing yesterday AM, when the ANAC slapped the airline with the suspension of its AOC until it can prove that the airline can safely operate in the face of its financial crisis.

Avianca Argentina continues to operate, albeit with a single ATR (LV-GUH, LV-GUG is stored at AEP), It has flown to SFN and MDQ today, both round trips from AEP.
