well with NK and B6 already being in town, that really leaves F9, AS and G4 as the main options, unless we are talking international.

Certainly not Alaska. SEA-BDL seems like a great way to throw money away.

Governors don’t show up for ULCCs, unless it is a major investment, so it’s AS or int’l.

Sun Country and Alaska both announce routes on Tuesdays, IIRC.

I'd be shocked to see SEA-BDL.

If it's an investment situation, it's more likely to be International, not sure CT is going to pay much in the way of incentives to AS to come to town. I maybe wrong, but you have a point...

Frontier would be my initial guess also, but with the CT Governor there maybe something bigger such as an int'l player? I don't know CT politics well enough to know if the governor makes such announcements, but being a small state maybe they do, not casting aspersions BTW ;-)

Malloy will show up for the opening of a can of beer if it means someone is getting a taxable paycheck out of it within the state.
Sure, he's on his way out but he's desperately trying to not be tagged as running everyone out of the state because of a crappy job market and tax situation.

SEA-BDL seems like too long and thin of a route to work IMO, but if there's a financial investment involved, then maybe it could work.

What would PT have to do with anything if the announcement is at BDL?

I think if I had to put money on it, I'd say AS. They seem to be willing to open new markets if the deal is sweet enough and BDL is certainly willing to open up the checkbook. I couldn't imagine the governor being there for F9, but I am surprised they aren't there.

Might depend on how many routes F9 is going to start. Like others said, I wouldn't normally think a Gov would show up for a F9 announcement but it is a small state and it isn't out of his way to go to it. So if they are announcing a handful of destinations then I could see it. Something like JAX/AUS/DEN/MCO

AS to Seattle I think he would for sure show up for though.

Norwegian has come and gone already. I doubt he'd be there to announce new service from them even if they did try something.

I can imagine him only appearing if its an airline in a Alliance of some kind.

F9 flew BDL to MKE and DEN until 2011 and 2008, respectively. Would this count as a new carrier? I don't believe it is AS, so I will go with F9 to either MIA, RDU, or ATL.

It's also worth noting (granted, CMH and PIT are very recent adds) that AS has made SEA-surprise long domestic work. I can't think of any adds (save for MIA, which moved) that they've cut the cord on. Adding BDL seems like something they'd take a swing at if the arrangements looked good.

*edit*
I would add that an add like this seems very in-line with what AS has been up to lately. I think that they see a strong incentive to move on anything from SEA that DL is unlikely to throw metal on, particularly if it's a potential SEA-ATL-xxx routing with potential for a decent non-stop yield.

Because that’s where AS is headquartered. I don’t know if that matters. That’s why I asked.

Can't say for certain, but it's possible that AS would just send out a press release and let BDL take the ceremonial end of things (likely with AS reps in attendance).

Frontier's existing summer schedule has some cities with aircraft flows which have gaps, so it's very likely something is coming. Might be Hartford -- Frontier is running out of new markets to bomb with a crop of new flights. Markets with odd slack in summer include IND and MKE, and BDL-IND / BDL-MKE would be additions which fit Frontier's model. If it is Hartford I'd guess maybe 6-10 new routes with most being two or three days per week.

BDL is one of the top domestic destinations traveled to from SEA that isn't currently served nonstop from SEA, and I agree that AS could start service out of BDL.

F9 has been recently re-entering many of the destinations that it previously pulled out of, and I agree that F9 possibly reentering BDL might happen.

Honestly, I wouldn't be. United flies to BDL from SFO and American flies in from LAX iirc, so I don't see why Alaska couldn't do it from SEA.

Maybe a 73G or 319 would give the route a chance to try the market and expand if it works.

Interesting. The flight itself shows up on the website, but the "standard" and "discount den fare" both read "not available", which makes me think that the flight was just added into the reservation system.

Any other F9 routes available out of BDL? Seems a little tacky for the Governor to show up just to announce 3x weekly service to a city that is already served by UA and WN on a daily basis.

I was gonna say... if the initial announcement is just 3x weekly BDL-DEN, that seems pretty underwhelming...

It might be an international...I don't see much sense for Alaska to fly to Hartford instead of just adding flights to the NYC area or Boston...maybe Ryanair or Norwegian?? Or...long shot but perhaps Jet2?

PVD needs service to SEA more than BDL. That corner of CT adjacent to RI is chock full of navy personnel and defense contractors who would love the easy connectivity to the Seattle area. That would be the only justification I could see for BDL getting that route, but PVD would serve that group far better.

If we're talking USN traffic, SEA-ORF is probably a stronger addition. I suspect AS has kicked the tires on ORF, BDL and PVD and we'll probably see at least one of them launched from SEA sooner than later. Certainly not surprised to see DEN-BDL on F9, though--maybe we'll see them have a go at something else in Hartford, they certainly aren't averse to testing new markets.

I know AS benefits from plane loads of usn traffic to SEA and SAN from BOS for this reason, but they could benefit from serving our installations more directly. If pvd would benefit from sea, and yes orf. Up here at psm we probably could keep a flight to SAN alive from PSM (it's our detachment so we share people frequently and freely)

Thursday March 7th, daily service resumes. Right about the timing for this F9 new service. Does BDL really need so many flights to Denver? Does anyone have information on PDEW?

I'd still be surprised AS does this given its recent retrenching, but this article from last week talks up SEA too, along with JAX.

http://www.hartfordbusiness.com/article ... /181219969

The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA), the quasi-public agency that oversees Bradley, has been pursuing routes to Austin and Jacksonville, Fla., in the south; Milwaukee and Nashville in the Midwest; Seattle on the West Coast; and Jamaica, CAA Executive Director Kevin Dillon said Wednesday.

"By far and away the No. 1 city that we're pursuing … is Seattle," Dillon said, noting the vast array of one-stop connections at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, especially to Asia.

Jacksonville International Airport also ranks high on the priority list, Dillon said. It's the last major city in Florida to which Bradley lacks a route, and would be advantageous for military personnel with connecting flights to the military airport within the Jacksonville Naval Complex.

Well, it tells you why DEN is UA's most profitable hub- there is a lot of money in connections / flow traffic.

I really don't understand why the airport would even invite the governor to give this announcement, it is an ULCC announcing 3x weekly service on a route that already has daily service from multiple carriers. I could maybe understand if it was AS, but not this

The governor is coming for 3/wk DEN service on F9?????? Maybe Trump and Angela Merkel are available.

I really don't understand why the airport would even invite the governor to give this announcement, it is an ULCC announcing 3x weekly service on a route that already has daily service from multiple carriers. I could maybe understand if it was AS, but not this

It's a tiny state that doesn't see a lot of positive news, I guess.

Would seem odd for the governor to be there if it is just F9 to DEN, MCO. Thats why I wonder if there will be a flurry of routes mostly 2-3 per week. But we shall know soon.
