I imagine it would grow to more, RDU is barely served at BDL and certainly not at low fares. I could see a scenario where F9 adds RDU CVG and CLE from BDL which could jeopardize the DL RJ routes.

I really don't get what F9 is trying to do in DEN, its barely a hub and the connections for most options involve a 4+ hour layover in at least one of the directions, many being 6+ hours.
Experience is what you get when what you thought would work out didn't!

Nope it is just 3x weekly to DEN: https://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/loc ... 28232.html

Your fingers are faster than mine -- I was about to post the link and saw you just had. Pretty amazed that the governor is coming for 3x/week to DEN at an airport like Bradley. Maybe 3x/week Frontier at an airport like Rochester MN or Tyler TX would be a game-changer, but this is not that for an airport like BDL.

I live in Connecticut. Our governor did not run for office again, so he is finishing out his last days of service until the new administration comes in.

I guess it makes a nice photo op for him.

Interesting. What exactly is F9 bringing to the market that WN and UA can't/don't already offer?

Seasonal, less than daily service to a market that already has two carriers on it is a bit of a letdown. A bigger deal would have been UA making SFO-BDL year round.

Fares that are less than half of what those two charge, providing you are willing to travel with only a bag the size of a toaster and be stuck in a middle seat in the far back with no food or drinks, other than what you brought on (or shell out for anything above that).

Flights will drop once CT legalizes weed!

Meanwhile the F9 price tag allows the stoners to buy more weed in DEN.

I'm all for F9 making this route work, but it seems like it was a lot of pomp and circumstance for nothing. Hopefully they add a few more routes like Aus and Rdu. Maybe even throw their hat into the ring and be the 5th carrier on BDL/MCO.

Customer number one right here. A $13 seat assignment, $30 carry on, and I could still make it out for way cheaper than the outrageous fares that WN/UA charge.
Hell, I just bought a flight for $25 on F9 from PHL-MIA. Even with the add-ons, it saved us $700 compared to other airlines. You just can’t beat the value that Frontier provides. Hopefully their entrance into this market is successful brings down fares like they’ve historically done.

Also, at least Frontier gives you free water, unlike certain other ULCCs.

I have a few friends that fly F9/G4 to Florida a fair amount for a weekend. They just take a bookbag with clothes and that is it. Works for them.

I would be willing to give them a shot even with a $30 charge for a carry on bag fee.
Flights right now for 3/28 one way start at $84.
UA right now is charging $194 for one way basic economy, if you want a seat assignment and a bag it will cost you $224.
WN will charge you $194 one way, yes you get a carry on but no seat assignment either.
So at $114 that is still $80 to $110 in savings.
How comfortable is Frontier from a seat perspective? I heard from a friend of mine who flew on Spirit from BOS to LAS that it was like sitting on one of those padded folding chairs? Is Frontier any better?

don't forget that you can generally save $19 each way on F9 if you buy your ticket at the check-in counter (the carrier interface charge gets waived at the airport). i've flown PVD-TPA for under $20 roundtrip. i'm premier with UA, but loyalty goes out the window when my plane ticket can cost less than my round of golf.

I have been on F9 nonstops between DFW and CVG, and I was satisfied with the service on the F9 DFW-CVG flights. However, F9 does charge fees for carry-on baggage, and F9's seats are less comfortable than those on AA, DL, WN, or VX.

F9 uses slimline seats that are similar to those used by NK, and the seats used by both F9 and NK are made by Acro.

WN and UA will probably come down now. I've even seen WN pricematch F9 at times from my home airport.

Well that was certainly a letdown. Especially after recent news with the push for service to SEA, AUS, JAX, ect.... I imagine BDL will get more service, but with an airline like F9 throwing darts all around I don't take this airline seriously.

It seems like F9 at PVD is all over the place in terms of service and cities that start and end. How many cities from PVD have had service ended or reduced since F9 has started?

I fly to BDL a few times a year and really like the Airport. Easy in and out. 3X a week to DEN on F9? Will the Governor show up in 3 months when F9 cancels? :spin:

Ended - MSY, AUS, ATL. Reduced? IDK, none of Frontier's service is daily anyway and also seasonal except MCO which I think is year round.

This governor will be out of office by then.

It certainly is a letdown, unless you fit your weed under the seat in front of you. It can be a very cheap roundtrip, and still easier than the one legal store in MA and way more fun for an airline geek. lol

I think this is the third time this airline has started service as BDL. Perhaps this time’s the charm. BDL is my hometown airport and I always welcome new service, but you can get to Denver from here more ways than tomorrow. And while I understand incentives being given by a city for new service, in this case with this company’s track record for starting up and quickly pulling out of Hartford, I hope no money was given.

Frontier’s A320s use similar seats to Spirit, but they have a little bit more width and an inch or two more of legroom. I also think the seats are slightly mkre padded. Their A321s though are much more comfortable though because they have about 30-31” of legroom in their regular economy seats (vs NK’s 28” inches) and it surprisingly makes a huge difference. Even their “Stretch” seating is more affordable than Spirit’s “Big Front Seats”. They aren’t a bad deal at all for flights around 3-4 hours. Just make sure that you bring an iPad fully charged with downloaded movies since they don’t have entertainment.

This is great for customers needing to travel from Hartford to Denver and beyond because I would be shocked if UA/WN did not lower their prices in response.
