SYD-ORD Non-Stop

Wed Dec 19, 2018 10:54 pm

Not sure if EK has done this before but just saw EK9245 land ORD nonstop from SYD. I realize this was cargo flight but just wondering if it was the first Nonstop from Australia to ORD. Reg # A6-EFJ.

Per Flightaware scheduled out SYD at 515pm and arrives ORD 500pm. 14,863 km.

Impressive - they must have been light b//c they were able to climb to FL350 initially - and finally to FL430 (assuming the FA data is correct).

Heard of a proposal many years ago, moving racing horses from northwestern Europe to Australia. The 777F would do it with one stop in Istanbul, then direct to Sydney whilst carrying 30 odd horses, their tackle and grooms, and non-stop back with a payload of 20 tons. The return leg would have been 21 hours, going downunder I can't recall, but probably around 19-20.

An "empty" 777F is able to do anything you ask of it.

Yeah.... I suppose there should be an oven for the cabin crew, and a pre-mixed recipe can be used for the sake of simplicity.

You don't even need cabin crew ...

Mix your cake, put the pan in the oven, turn the oven on, then in the cockpit, turn Galley Power OFF.

When you are hungry, turn Galley Power ON and for the next 45 minutes, the 777F is baking you a cake!
Just because I stopped arguing, doesn't mean I think you are right. It just means I gave up!

Hahaha. I’ve flown into both airports as a passenger. Even the mighty 777F would have a problem with those.

I’m sure an empty 777F could handle SNA with minimal problem though.

I read the title as "SYR-ORD Non-Stop" and was wondering what the big deal was.

One moment. Can a 777F land&take off in Key West airport? If so, how much range does it have?

Any plane can land anywhere - the question is whether it's still operable afterwards.

Sure, with your own choice of topping if you ticked the option.

Absolutely.

No sweat. Payload will depend on whether it's operating with or without the roof rack surfboard option. Range wise, it'll have enough for near-earth orbit and rendezvous with the ISS.
