So now AA has 22 B767-300s. They're getting down there towards the last.

No, they're going to dig Delta's old DC9s out of MZJ.

Planned to exit on the 28th of this month. She's officially on the schedule flying AA2846 PHL-SEA-PHL daily starting on 5/2.

Looks like I'm going to have to find an excuse to fly AA between PHL-MIA, because that's where the 763s seem to be running, at least domestically.

They use LUS A321s on this route? I thought they would use the newer sharklet fitted transcon A321s on PHL SEA.

The LAA A321 is based in DFW and LAX so unfortunately no.

Just curious: In such a case, what is the point of basing an aircraft at certain airports? All of these are A321-200s. The only differences are that the LUS ones have the old wingtips rather than sharklets, LUS planes use CFM56's instead of IAE V2500's, and the cabins are different. I would have thought that the maintenance crews, FA's, pilots etc at different bases would be able to use each others' planes regardless of such differences?

As I understand it, the LAA and LUS Maintenance Programs have not been integrated. Consequently the respective aircraft have to be maintained by the legacy maintenance personnel until such time as the FAA approves an integrated maintenance program.

Where? It's not certainly PHL, when I look up tickets I see no LAA A321 ever. Only between DFW, LAX and ORD

In lieu of the 737MAX yes, that wouldn't be a bad idea. That would somehow help in compensating for the MAX fleet of 24 planes that has been grounded. I'm not even sure American still wants the remaining 76 MAX airplanes.
Do you realize they are all leased and would take months to convert. The Max’s would be back in the air before the first one could ever enter the fleet and who would fly them?

Still willing to run with that statement? No MAXs until August now....

Yes it’s taken forever for AA to get one of the ex-frontier planes reconfigured and flying.

The way it's looking, AA should cancel MAX orders and take WOW's A321s. The WOW A321s are similar enough that AA could keep the WOW interiors and only add F seats, later sending them through Oasis to standardize at 190 seats.

You do realize the idol Max pilots can’t fly them?

No, but there's a ton of A320 pilots that could fly them. At least leasing WOW A321 makes more sense than bringing back MD-80.

chonetsao wrote:JFK planned runway works gives AA opportunity to maintain a certain degree of schedule by shuffling JFK capacity to other hubs. Ironic when we talk about all the JFK cuts. AA is lucky to have JFK at today's situation.
After August, MAX comes back and JFK continue to shrunk, AA does not need extra aircraft. Everything is in order. Some flights get cancelled and the yield in summer peak time is up as the capacity is down. Smooth... Dougie.
