As I'm reading this forum, two of them just departed in the last ten minutes here in DSM with another arriving soon. How very quiet this airport will be when they're gone...

FWIW, I saw quite a few 757s flying into DFW yesterday, probably a few more than usual. I'm wondering if that's a ripple effect from the 3M8 grounding or if there's something else behind it.

There’s a couple on PHL/CUN-DFW and DFW-ANC.

Aren't most of those LAA 757s? Not many LUS 757s?

I knew the 752s were usually a rare sight into DFW, but in recent days, they've shown up on flights between DFW and JFK, PHL, MIA and LAS (I might have also seen on on DFW-PHX). That's why I was wondering if the 752s are sticking around a little longer until the MAX 8 issues are (hopefully) resolved.

ISOM was asked that specifically and he said there is a GAP in the 100 seat arena (w/ the E190s leaving) and they are looking at it. But in the end he thinks A319s with the commonality are probably a better choice even though a little larger.

Well, they can always add 4 to 8 business class seats on the A319 to make the capacity close to 100...wink wink.

Actually, getting the A220 and deploying it to its two largest and most profitable hubs in DFW and CLT could go a long way. Both of those hubs should have more mainline.

It's actually not MAX related. Before the MAX grounding, DFW was already set to see twice as many 757 flights as any other AA station this summer. There were planned to be 22 daily departures (LAS x2, PHX x1, MIA x4, PHL x6, JFK x3, BOS x2, CUN x2, LIM x1, KEF x1) - you can still see this schedule in effect in late August. All of these flights are on the LAA birds that are staying around for a while, with the exception of the PHX-DFW-PHX rotation which is an LUS 757.

Why so many 757 flights out of DFW? Less out of MIA now? Could AA 757s replace most of their remaining 767 flights since the 767 is going away so soon?

A330s I don't think so because those are sticking to the PHL and CLT hubs, former US hubs. I see 77Es taking over 767s routes out of MIA that a 757 wouldn't be able to do nonstop, for example MIA-LIM or MIA-MVD. MIA hasn't seen the 787 yet, it probably will as more come into the fleet.

I don't believe AA would use a 772 on those routes... not yet. That's a pretty large increase in capacity. There was an article saying they would replace old 763 routes with incoming 788s once they're gone, specifically on routes like MIA-LIM and the upcoming MIA-COR.
The 757 can do MIA-LIM nonstop as AA is currently running 2x daily MIA-LIM on one 757 and one 767.

Yes you're right. A 757 can do MIA-LIM. as it has done, don't know if it still does, MIA-BSB. I was saying the 77E because I wasn't sure when MIA would see the 788.
The 788 will take out the 767-300. The first big wave of that will start to happen in January 2020. We’ll have 3 787s that go into Philadelphia. By the end of 2020 the 78 will have replaced the 767 in Philadelphia and after that it take out the 767s that remain in Miami.

I don't think COR is able to be reached on a 752 as well. That'll very likely be switched to a 788 later.

Sorry if this has been answered before, but why PIT? Going into service from there, or some more ancilliaries being fitted?
