I wonder if it is some sort of livery tweak they are trying to keep under wraps!

The tail is painted, it’s just covered up.

There are some other photos of this aircraft and you can faintly see the virgin logo on the tail.

According to "AIB Family Flights", MSN 274, which rolled out of the FAL more than seven months ago, is still engineless. The next frames for VS are MSNs 319, 336, 415, 426, 492, and 511, and should be delivered in that order, but that's always subject to change. MSN 71, which is the third prototype A35K following MSNs 59 and 65, is currently in RE-WORK for VS, and will be delivered later this year, with the month still TBD.

So it could be two of the following; sn 246, sn 251, sn 260, & sn 270. Apparently the aircrew have already left for conversion training. Don't believe everything you read about SAA, it is still a great airline.

Ok cool, I mistakenly thought they were arriving in August, hence me thinking of those early sn's. The rumours are that they will be here within the next 9 months and will replace two A340-600's on the JFK route.

Oh no - an "improved" 10-abreast offering for the A350 may be on the cards:

"With the trend of slimming the sidewalls, shrinking the armrests and re-measuring the seat pan, the airframer is eyeing seat width of 17” for the 10-abreast A350. This compares to the A350’s standard 9-abreast layout with 18” wide seats."

https://runwaygirlnetwork.com/2019/05/2 ... r-markets/

(Airbus did promise slimmed sidewalls on its A350 Mk 1 proposal which was a development of the A330, but this was not carried through to the A330neo, which was surprising to me given that the neo should have a clear market advantage for LCCs at 9-abreast).

Why the ??? next to Asiana and Hong Kong Airlines? They do have A350s. If you want to know how many, just check FR24. 8 for both Asiana and Hong Kong Airlines. 16 total.

Has Airbus achieved 17" for he 10-abreast A350s? According to the article it claims seat width on the 10-abreast A350s is 16.4". Have they started slimming the sidewalls, shrinking the armrests and slightly enlarging the seat pan to get to 17"?
The 787 at 9 abreast and 17" width is terrible, if some of these airlines are opting for 10-abreast on their A350s and the seat width is 16.4" the airlines are going to force governing bodies to take actions.
At what point does seat width become unsafe, where does it end?

Is it true EY stored it’s first A350-1000 in BOD ? If true , would they store the next two which are almost ready !

Did EY actually take delivery of the aircraft?

Sometimes, airlines defer delivery for a short period of time and Airbus will store them somewhere (other than TLS) prior to the delayed delivery.

I doubt Airbus would store any aircraft long-term at BOD. Weather wise doesn't make sense. They generally use LETL for that. Could be short term storage (again there is plenty of room at TLS so doesn't intuitively make sense). Could be for cabin work. Could be for something else.

Pretty pretty!! Seeing the BA livery on such a long aircraft is "interesting". I know the 77W is long too, but this feels different..

Finally, it has been painted. Very nice :hyper: I personally think that the livery looks great on the 777s as well. Nice to see another airline operating both of the large widebody twinjets.
