Just saw this on the TPG. Didn't feel like posting a link. Article says departures from CVG are expected to increase around 25% for them. Not sure if they would just increase frequencies or add destinations but with that much of an increase I would assume a few new dots could be added.

I'm assuming that the 25% increase for Endeavor is simply just them taking over GoJet routes and flights. Good news regardless. CVG is now a crew base for Allegiant, Delta, PSA, Endeavor, Atlas, ABX, and ATI I think.

I'm extremely hopeful that Delta continues to grow CVG. It will be interesting to see what they do when the current airline user agreement expires at the end of next year and they give up control of nearly everything at CVG.

DL re-adding CVG-SAT nonstop service might happen with SAT being one of the top destinations that isn't currently served nonstop from CVG on any airline.

Other top destinations that DL doesn't currently serve nonstop from CVG include MIA, MSY, JAX, VPS, SRQ, and CHS. DL re-adding CVG-MIA, CVG-MSY, CVG-JAX, CVG-VPS, CVG-SRQ, and CVG-CHS nonstop service are possibilities as these are top destinations that could be served nonstop out of CVG on 9E on behalf of DL.

DL moving some more nonstop flights currently operated by CP, G7, YX, or OO out of CVG on behalf of DL over to 9E is also a possibility.

PSA base is closing at the end of Q1 2020 I believe

However, I did notice there is an increase in March flights on Endeavor though:
Gojet->Endeavor on BDL/RDU/EWR
CVG-DCA all CR9
CVG-TPA Sat 2x CR9s
CVG-FLL Sat 1x CR9

You're right, the PSA base is closing next year. Maybe that will open up the possibilities of more American mainline coming to CVG. It seems that American is more willing to grow at CVG than United is in that regard.

Even though I would expect AA to still operate some regional jets on its CVG-CLT/ORD/PHL nonstop routes, AA upgauging a few of its CVG-CLT, CLT-ORD, and CVG-PHL nonstops to mainline from regional jets is a possibility with AA having a significant amount of nonstop service to CLT, ORD, and PHL out of CVG.

AA adding CVG-LAX nonstop service is also a possibility with (a) CVG being one one of the top destinations that AA doesn't currently serve nonstop from LAX, (b) AA having more market share at LAX than any other airline, and (c) AA already serving LAX nonstop from some nearby markets such as CMH, IND, and SDF.

I hadn't heard the pilot base was closing. That's a shame for my former CFI who's from the area and had planned to become a PSA lifer because of the draw of the base.

Is PSA keeping the MX base? That may have an impact on the metal CVG sees.

Here's a good review/explanation of the discontinuation of CVG-SFO on United.

https://www.flydataguy.com/2019/11/cvg- ... um=twitter

However, compared to other UA operated markets, CVG struggled with its segment fare. After CVG-SFO was retimed in 2019, it appears the United's revenue management team restructured the fares within the market in an effort to stimulate passengers in the market.

Wow what a great analysis and interesting read, thanks for sharing! Interesting that the market is so Cincinnati-centric, that would definitely favor the incumbent DL in the market with their loyal SkyMiles base.

Slow day at work observation inspired by the talk of possible new G4 bases in another thread, but it looks like LCK's lead-in lines have been adjusted to make the gate on the left (which is 2, IIRC) a swing gate.

Any idea when the CRJ 550 flights will be regular occurrences? I have some travel for December but I am not seeing any.

Edit: Found some info on the United site. https://hub.united.com/reimagining-regi ... 53393.html

CMH starts 1/6/2020 and from EWR 2/13/2020.

October pax stats are out for CVG:

+2.34% for October
+2.48% for the year so far

http://www.cvgairport.com/docs/default- ... ctober.pdf

Well on track to cross the 9 million pax mark for 2019. This will be a big milestone in CVG's comeback, representing an almost 60% increase in passengers from its low in 2013 of 5.7 million pax.

The CRAA intends to impose a $4.50 passenger facililty charge for each passenger that enplanes at CMH. https://newshub.columbusairports.com/st ... 00-cmh.pdf

The charge is expected to take effect on 11/1/2020, and run through 1/1/2025.

Combing through the document, Page 6 explains why they took away the counter space around the corners (DL and WN): long TSA lines were blocking them.

Isn’t this just the charge everyone charges? Each year I think they have to say what they are using it for to keep charging it.

Interesting one-off Spring Break flight. Currently shows being flown by an ExpressJet ERJ-145.

Some other slight schedule tweaks:

One of the 5x daily AA CMH-PHL flights goes to an E90 in February. This is in addition to the E90 currently flying to LGA.

One of the 3x daily UA CMH-IAH flights goes to an A319 in February. No mainline to ORD and SFO remains grounded, though. SFO is back to being bookable in March and the SFO-CMH leg goes from a redeye to an evening RON in CMH, as previously mentioned.

There are some of the upgauges Nardone/CRAA said might be coming. AA will now have mainline to 7 hubs on either a regular (DFW, LAX, PHX) or seasonal (CLT, ORD, LGA, PHL) basis if things hold. The issue there, though, is that the E90s are on the way out.

Similarly, it's mainline to all hubs except EWR for UA.

About time! Hopefully it sticks, AA and WN seem to have no problem with filling the larger aircraft to their respective Texas hubs.

CMH-ORD has a strange schedule for Feb. According to United.com, no mainline at all except that the last outbound flight to ORD on Tuesdays is either a 738 or A320. This doesn’t appear to be the case on any other day of the week. Must be an aircraft positioning thing right?

I'm not the best one to answer this, but I watch the cargo departures from CVG on FlightAware & I listen to their radio traffic on my scanner. I have seen flights depart for Hamilton, Ontario (YHM), but those flights are rare compared to nightly departures for "the usual suspects" (ANC, NRT, JFK, CGN, etc.). I thought the YHM service was weekly, but it may even be less than that.

AND,

The CRAA December board agenda is out. Nothing particularly eye popping from the numbers (trend of 6-7% YOY growth overall continues), but it does include the announcement that DL will be running the a220 on CMH-SLC from Dec 21 to Jan 6!

Operating a flight for cargo jet since cargo jet has a big operation in YHM and CVG?

Doubtful, seeing as Cargojet already flew to YHM last night with C-GAAJ after 999 left. N999YV departed as W8991; C-GAAJ on the regularly scheduled YHM was W8911.

Upgauges are nice to see on more than one carrier. IAH has come a long way from the E145's to at least one mainline in the coming months. Same goes for EWR, finally ridding themselves of the Q400's. Starting to slowly see some one-off changes here and there with IAD as well. While once exclusively YV CR7's, the coming months are all over the place. Showing a mix of YV CR7's and E175's, ZW CR2 ( ), C5 E145 and happily some of my company metal (YX pilot here).

UA mainline to ORD seems to fluctuate between at least one daily to as many as 3 during peak summer travel season. At least it's there. And CMH is one of the first to receive the CRJ550, which I've heard has impressed fliers thus far (despite no WiFi yet). They even brought it in and showed it off to frequent fliers in Nov.

Surprised to see the E90 on PHL

Everybody except F9 and WN (AS, of course, has no baseline) posted massive YOY gains for October. AS had an 88.5% LF, which I'd imagine is still considered strong given it's Fall.

Sounds like LCK is going to see Korean Air Cargo flights at some point in the future.

Good to hear they're hustling. I don't think another year-round flight is feasible with the current CVG-CDG service, but seasonal LHR or FRA would be ideal in my opinion.

DAY-BOS is at the top of their list which, obviously, would be DL country.

Delta's the first to throw their hat into the ring. Outbound on the 27th, return on the 29th, both on 757s. Main Cabin starting for the low, low price of $1637.60 for the nonstops.

November was up 0.44% for CVG, up 2.3% for the year. All still on track to break 9 million pax this year.

American also launched their first-ever seasonal CVG-PHX flight earlier this week:

Hopefully the flight will do well enough between connections and O&D. Would love to see it extended or become year-round.

I wonder if the lost segment on CMH-PHL is made up for by the E190 hopping on the route again.

While F9 has operated less-than-daily nonstop service to PHX during the summertime in the past, F9 will be ending CVG-PHX nonstop service on April 21, 2020.

I agree that both AA and WN could extend CVG-PHX nonstop service to year-round with the lack of year-round CVG-PHX nonstop service being a huge hole and with there being significant demand to the PHX/AZA market from the CVG market. There are also WN FF's in the PHX market who prefer to fly on WN over competitors due to WN having nonstop service out of PHX to a few destinations such as BUF, LIT, SDF, BNA, and TUL that aren't served nonstop out of PHX on AA, DL, UA, or F9.

Eastern operated a fan charter to PHX yesterday for the Fiesta Bowl using a 767-300, but the flight was several hours late because of maintenance issues in MIA.

Home in Canton for the holidays and flying out of CAK for the first time in maybe two decades. Pretty impressed with the facilities, honestly. I was surprised to see that they're adding even more gates to the end of the newer concourse right now. Once those are complete, are they going to mothball that old central concourse? Can't see why they'd need to keep so many gates with traffic falling off a cliff here.

UA ending DAY-IAH in April 2020. Sad to see this one go-- DAY's only add in recent memory. Oversized equipment (E75), low premium demand, and less desirable flight times never allowed this one to realize its full potential. Personally, I think they should have attempted it with an E45 before cutting things outright, which would have been a much better fit.

With the upcoming end of DAY-EWR on Jan 4, nothing will be left of ex-CO.

Nice to see CMH getting at least a seasonal second daily flight to SEA on AS. I am otherwise not overly optimistic about any spectacular mainline/legacy additions coming for 2020 in CMH. With load factors doing well and, likely, yields as well, the airlines may have found their sweet spots here. That having been said, on the LCC side I am curious about what Spirit may add as they bring on additional aircraft in 2020 and if Alaska may be interested in any other west coast destinations. It seems like Southwest is going to be working through the MAX issues and will have to get those resolved before we see any major additions from them. Otherwise, we should start to see more planning and development of the new Terminal this year, if the earlier comments from CRAA about 9M passengers being the "trigger" point still hold true. As for International, maybe it is going to be a few years (if then) for CMH to get it AMS or LHR connection, which is too bad but not surprising. (Sorry to be down, but I am still suffering the after effects of the Clemson game...ARRGH)
