Condor flew 767s to FRA off of the 7,166 ft runway.

I have seen EI's 757 use BDL's runway 33 which is only 6,847 long. The 757 is a beast.

The broken 757 was parked near the deicing pads this morning with the right engine shell removed and hooked up to a GPU.

WN used to fly to LAS non stop which ended around 2012ish I believe on a -700.

So I dug into flightaware today and started with BDL for the week of 8/11 through 8/17 departures. I broke it into 3 categories, mainline departures, regional, and cargo. Below is a link to each. I will start working on PVD, PWM, MHT, and BTV today and tomorrow. BOS has too much info to compile manually.

Well done and easy to decipher. BDL has a lot of 737-800 activity. When you research PWM, don't forget to add Delta's new non stop international service to Edinburgh : )

Perhaps not, but I think it's safe to say that — recognizing that capacity, heat, and winds all play roles — an eastbound TATL 757 to Western Europe should generally be able to make it off of PWM's 11/29.

BDL's June numbers took a step back with big loses by WN and UA however overall the airport still saw positive growth. This must be the first month WN hasn't been #1 or #2 at BDL since the early 2000's.

Aer Lingus posted one of their best months with close to a 95% load factor in June.

We’ll routes finally caught up with PWM-BOS, but I am curious about the first flight down, an 847am arrival is going to miss a ton of early morning B6 connections, so I am a little surprised it leaves so late, am I missing something (probably am of course)

Awesome breakdown. Thanks so much for this

Interesting to see that DL has swapped out the A319 for the 717 on the morning PWM-LGA flight. I wonder if they'll ever put A220's on that route.

BTV single TSA checkpoint by 2023.

"To also help with making travel easier in 2023, they hope to start construction to make one TSA checkpoint.

"We believe the traveling customer is looking for that. It's less confusion when you come to the airport, you go to the place and then you can decide what gate you go to based on where you are traveling," said Richards."

From a quick glance at the plans in the video, looks like the new TSA checkpoint will be added to the right portion of the terminal that is currently part of the apron. Then BTV will be able to remove the temporary container connector that I'm guessing is up and running now? PWM just built a white plastic maintenance storage shed to the west of Gate 14 which looks out of place and is supposed to be for short term use, we'll see.

The temporary connector is supposed to be completed in September. Looks like two concourses will keep using the upstairs hallway to connect in the new consolidation plan.

BTV released their June numbers. Healthy load factors pushed enplanements up +7% despite a slight decrease in departing capacity.

Looks like Delta's growth (I believe this is an extra crj9 frequency to both ATL and JFK vs last year) and Frontier helped offset AA's draconian PHL cuts (this year 4x daily ERJ145/175; last year 5-6 daily w/ 5x being E190). Seeing Frontier at only 3.5% market share really puts things in perspective.

Enplanements- 62,180 (vs 57,855 in June 2018)
Total Pax- 127,663 (vs 119,888 in June 2018)

Enplanements by airline (includes RJ pax)
Airline June '19 YOY%
United- 19,985 8%
American- 15,959 -12%
Delta- 16,976 23%
Jetblue- 7,081 -3%
Frontier- 2,179 NA

Is B6 still 3x daily BTV-JFK year round? or do they go down to 2x in the slower months? Seems like jetblue isn't exactly healthy at BTV

I agree, they'll push the walls to the right, build a new permanent way up to the upstairs hall. Looks to me like they're also moving the concession over there.

I'm assuming, but the North side TSA space would hopefully/probably open up for more seating at the gates there.

Or maybe another small restaurant.

They're loaded at 3x daily year round. They're load factors have steadily eroded over the past year or two in addition to what I see has been giving up a lot of pricing power on nonstop JFK route from DL who, hasn't been dumping supply, but lowering prices enough to stay competitive with B6 at LGA/JFK.....I also really wondering how much of B6's traffic is connecting for nonstop and how that ratio has changed over the last 2-3 years.

When I have looked at recent numbers it appeared to be about 30%-40% connecting. I just looked at some quarters in 2015 and 2017 and it was more like 20% connecting.

BTV-ATL has been 2x daily just about year round for a while now. I believe it was actually two mainline flights per day for most of a couple years, so I think any DL growth this year must be somewhere else. I do concur that there is an extra CRJ to JFK and maybe more frequency or larger aircraft to LGA/DTW.

Looks like F9 is totally done at PSM. they have nothing scheduled through March. Trying to book anything from PSM on frontier's website ends in a site error.

Not totally surprising. PSM never really made much sense given their fairly robust presents at PWM.

MHT seems a bit more likely than it did a year ago. It's the only major New England airport without F9 service, and there's definitely plenty of demand for leisure travelers going south (WN still flies daily MHT-MCO/TPA)

quick question to the PVD folks, do you know if all the SY routes are year round or are any seasonal? right now i see
MSP, BNA, LAS, MSY and I know PUJ will likely be winter only (or not at all if the general bookings keep dropping off to the Dominican), just wanting to check as i am working on some numbers and these will have an affect to them.

MSP is seasonal through early January. PUJ is off the books and anything past early January appears to be a placeholder schedule that has yet to be updated.

AA which caters mostly to business passengers scales back over the holidays like they do every year. Winter ops are problematic and deicing is expensive (up to $1,000/plane) so less operations the better

Here's an update on the new terminal connection walkway at BTV.

"The modular use of shipping containers at BTV seems to be an industry first, 'We knew that those boxes are used in hundreds of really innovative ways. We decided to put together something like a big Lego set.'"

Not very attractive but they serve the intended purpose in addition to being cost effective.

Sun Country is pulling out of PVD without even finishing out the winter season. The airline said they are moving the PVD aircraft to more profitable winter routes. Here is the full article: https://www.providencejournal.com/news/ ... en-service

They end service on October 28th.

Wow! That didn't last long. I questioned MSY and BNA, but I felt LAS and MSP were winners. The article mentions that they haven't yet made a decision on returning to PVD in the spring. Here's hoping they do.

June is the last month that has the unsustainable frontier fat. July and August shouldn’t be as bad. I think F9 and DY account for more than the entire decline alone.

As for SY... it was a mixed bag and I heard they are 3 aircraft short since 800s that were supposed to be parked are not due to the Max issue. Their winter schedule didn’t exactly have “winter cities” in it...

Looks like F9 is totally done at PSM. they have nothing scheduled through March. Trying to book anything from PSM on frontier's website ends in a site error.

Not totally surprising. PSM never really made much sense given their fairly robust presents at PWM.

I think I've said this before- PWM is NOT convenient to the Seacoast NH region. BOS is. MHT used to be an option when the prices were competitive.

If PSM were to ever increase in popularity it'd be because of pricing that competed with BOS attracting people from the northeastern most portion of Mass. For now the service is so limited most people don't even know there are scheduled flights out of PSM in Portsmouth itself. I keep informing people for the first time that they don't need to go to Boston to fly to Orlando on a ulcc. G4 and F9 didn't do a very good job of getting the word out at all.

Looks like jetBlue is using an A321 on BDL-RSW and BDL-PBI. This is the first time I have seen B6 run an A321 BDL-RSW. Also, looks like Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday get an additional A320 BDL-PBI, I don't recall them running a 2nd flight on this route. Looks like SJU is down to 1x daily this week, not sure how long that lasts as it is usually 2x daily most of the year. Still have not seen any A321's on BDL-SJU.

Delta is running a 737-900 3x into ATL and 2x daily most of the week into MSP, the MSP flight is relatively new with 739 equipment and ATL is usually only 1 or 2x daily. DTW stays at 5x daily with mainly 717's.

United continues to send 737-900's into DEN most of the week and recently into ORD 5x per week.

I believe JetBlue ran for a month and half with a 2nd flight this past year on BDL-PBI, Not surprised they are adding it back for a while. BDL-PBI/RSW are both quite profitable routes in winter time. Especially BDL-RSW. I anticipate seasonal PVD-RSW will be added at some point.

Just because people have been talking about runway legnth... look at OGG. Their main runway is 6,995ft. long. This year they will have or have had flights on the following types of planes all to mainland as far as DFW: 772, 77W, 333, 789... it's amazing that that can even happen... blows my mind that these are regularly scheduled everyday.

United also fly's OGG-ORD with a 777.

Looks like OGG is planning to extend it's main runway to 8530' in the future to allow for consistent full loads. I feel much better about PWM's runway situation now and realize there will probably never be a need to lengthen it due to the capabilities of modern aircraft and limitations to the Portland market. We did learn recently that a 757 can safely make it to Scotland from Portland during the summer months. Paris is only 350 miles further away, would that be pushing it?
