OK, I'll bite. Why such a big variation in load factors? Time of year? Time of day? Or more/less popular carrier?
I just never know how to interpret summary data. I'm guessing PWM-PHL AA mainline numbers were low because they were mostly run during the slow season, so I agree that when the flights occured makes a big difference. But I also think that frequent flyers decide if they like a certain regional airline/mainline option, and schedule accordingly. Frequency in schedule is important, but so is service and reliability. In general, I believe that passengers strongly prefer mainline and when it is used, total passengers increases compared to regional aircraft.
