LOT have announced weekly flights to Chania and Rimini on their Instagram, starting 6/6.

Now we know why LO has rescheduled their BUD-BEG flights from middle of the night to noon. Air Serbia has slowly started loading their own BEG-BUD flights to be operated with a split schedule with departures from Belgrade at 07.45 and 18.25.

Let's see what happens now and what LO ends up doing with this route. I do think both airlines can coexist as they are after different markets but only time will tell.

Finally, I really questioned if they would get to 10m this year, definitely a close call.

Where are they finding the free slots to add more long-haul flights? I though WAW was maxed out?

AFAIK WAW is maxed-out at peak hours only.

Wasn’t there a new bid for slots or something like that at WAW? I remember reading an article that had info about all the airlines and all the slot requests that they put in. I also saw pics that the level 100 bus gates are almost done, maybe additional slots are planned on being added.

Do you happen to know how many bus gates are going to be opened? I guess they could move someone to a remote stand to make room for a widebody, though it would have to be someone from the non-Schengen area.

I think either 4 or 5 and they are at the tip on the norther pier. Yeah I’m not exactly sure if they are for non or Schengen area. Next part of the expansion was to make the northern pier widebody gates on the east side, but all projects not started are frozen until middle of 2020 for the government to re-evaluate the needs of all the expansion projects.

Remember between all the 787s down right now and between regular maintenance it could be a different airplane each time.

Haha! Yep and it would have been a sight to see if they would put a LOT sticker. Yesterday of the 5 flights to the US 3 of them were Air Belgium’s.

No clue. It would fit best for ORD (departure from WAW 16.40), JFK (16.45) or YYZ (16.45), but these are already daily. The non-daily ones that have similar departure times from WAW are LAX LO23 (16.50), but this is a long rotation and most of all together with LO21 LAX is already daily, and EWR (16.50/14.15), but it is six weekly with only Wed missing.

I think LO meets the bill and gets a discount for new engines and services from RR. Each year in the financial statements of LO there is a post showing the amount of discounts granted by RR to be used by LO in future periods (as assets, mostly short-term). Whether the amount is sufficient is something we will never know (leaving cashflow problem, reputational problem and organisational mess aside).

The way things go with RR maybe Air Belgium should consider buying some additonal metal in order to wet-lease it to LO in the future. Hopefully not B787 with RR engines.
