I agree. The prices are extremely high when compared to places like AUS or IAH.
Which is something I've always found curious:
it's not uncommon for the (published) fares at MSY in J, to be as-high or even higher than the fares from AUS and SJC in **F**.... yet they still don't deem this route worthwhile for a 4class aircraft.
I'm guessing that there's either private-treaty on F fares at those locations; or (more likely) there's sufficient [email protected]
for so many premium seats, that they officially offer F as a class of service, but mostly use it for op-ups on their full-C pax, and can still fill 40+ C seats after that at medium fares without encroaching upon W. Just my guess.
However, if you compare the prices to UA/DL/AA with a connection, it's pretty close to on the money. Sadly.
Typical though. Fares are priced at what the market will bare; and a nonstop is one of the few things all classes of service will frequently pay a premium for.
