Any further word on DL A339 test flights or deliveries? The latest post in this thread implies that the first frame will be in Atlanta on May 16, which is two weeks from today.

Wow, that's an interesting development regarding the second HNL-NRT flight being cancelled. DL had applied for a daily second HNL-HND route in their application a few months back, though it's their lowest priority request.

The scheduled seasonal second daily HNL-NRT was cancelled after the S18 schedule. What you are referencing above is a second daily flight which operated only during golden week for additional lift.

A lot of historically 767 routes will be getting the A330 next year:
https://www.routesonline.com/news/38/ai ... f-12may19/

A330's being freed up as refurbished 764's come online.
DL has already hinted (around the time of the JetBlue TATL service announcement last month) that the first refurbished 764's will be going to LHR from JFK and BOS. Perhaps other hubs to LHR along with AMS and CDG routes that do not have 777 already will be next to see the 764.

With the first A339s coming in this year, I wonder if some of these B763ER swaps have anything to do with the first retirements.

The first batch of refurbished 764s are slated for BOS-LHR, 2x JFK-LHR and JFK-ZRH starting this coming winter, though they haven’t been loaded yet.

The changes to the A332 listed will take up 7 of the 11 aircraft in the total fleet and I assume DTW-NGO and LOS-ATL/JFK will make up the rest (though it will be interesting how they get the A332 to PDX for the NRT flight); this means that LHR-ATL/DTW will probably switch out of the A332 as well.

Are all 777s retrofitted with D1 Suites now?
Delta seems listing only D1 suite configuration (28C) on their website.

No. 8x 772s + 4x 77Ls have D1 Suites (on DL's website they identify as 777-200LRs) and 6x 77Ls have the old seats (identified as 777s on website). The remaining 6 will be retrofitted in the fall.

It looks like routesonline is jumping the gun here. It's way too early to assume anything about S20 schedule. W19/20 isn't even yet totally finalized. It looks like DL is using the 332 as the place setter in its current S20 schedule. There are currently 20 routes planned for the 332 while there are only 11 frames. it looks like DL dumped the 763ER-high J routes, some low-J routes and some 764 routes under the 332 flag for now as it figures out what is going to happen.

Are you implying/suggesting that Jim Liu, who wrote this article, makes this stuff up? Or perhaps he has better sources of information than you do.

I do wonder if some of the 332 routes in excess of the available number of frames are placeholders for future A339 flying. Has any of that been loaded yet?

More likely place holders for 764s with D Suites which have yet to be loaded. I believe there will only be 2 more 339s delivered by S20 (beyond the 4 to come this year which are already loaded and allocated) and those 2 should go on SEA-PEK hence bringing TPAC SEA service to all-339 (except SEA-KIX which remains 763 and swaps through the system via an HNL-KIX-SEA-KIX-HNL rotation).

I don't even know why i bother rationalizing with you when my better judgement tells me to simply ignore all your posts and comments. Jim Liu reports what is loaded in the GDS, that's his job and he does a great job at it. And yes DL has loaded 20x 332 routes in the GDS last Saturday for the S20 schedule so under no circumstance am I saying that Jim Liu's post is inaccurate. Now unless DL plans on buying 9x 332s between now and S20, DL is obviously using the 332 as a place holder for something else (in this case the 764 D Suites which are not yet loaded in the system). Jim Liu doesn't calculate the number of frames available and make a judgement re: placeholders, he simply reports changes in the GDS.

Those of us that have been following DL for a number of years can report with certainty that what DL loads in May 2019 for S20 schedule is preliminary at best and will change over the next 6-7 months as demand builds, new routes get announced, some routes get canned and more importantly for S20, the Haneda slots get allocated. The fact that a single route (ATL-GIG) is currently loaded on the 764 and that 20x routes are loaded on the 332 is a testament to the preliminary nature of the GDS from last weekend.

Looks like Delta got its wish and will be most likely closing its NRT hub. HND-SEA/DTW/ATL/PDX/HNL have been tentatively allocated. Second HND-HNL rotation not allocated. Now let's see how quickly NRT-SIN/MNL get the axe.

Is there a possibility of a new Delta Sky Club at HND if all flights switch over from NRT?

I haven't been to HND before, but there are two listed on DL.com already...on the 5th floor, between gates 114 and 146, and the second is on the 4th floor next to gate 111. Not knowing how big they are, would there be a need to have a new SC and then close these two existing ones?

You need to look closer on DL.com. Those two clubs are clearly listed as "TIAT" clubs. http://www.haneda-airport.jp/inter/mo/e ... e_sky.html

Apologies as I'm in air right now and only looking at the App, which unfortunatley doesn't have them listed as "TIAT" Clubs!

From https://news.delta.com/dot-tentatively- ... -us-cities

New routes to feature Delta’s award-winning reliability, product and service

Delta will operate the flights using the following aircraft types:

SEA-HND will be operated using Delta’s newest international widebody aircraft, the Airbus A330-900neo. Delta's A330-900neo will feature all four branded seat products – Delta One suites, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin – giving customers more choice than ever.
DTW-HND will be operated using Delta’s flagship Airbus A350-900 aircraft, the launch fleet type for Delta’s award-winning Delta One suite, Delta Premium Select and Main Cabin.
ATL-HND will be flown using Delta’s refreshed Boeing 777-200ER, featuring Delta One suites, the new Delta Premium Select cabin and the widest Main Cabin seats of Delta's international fleet.
PDX-HND will be flown using Delta’s Airbus A330-200 aircraft, which features 34 full flat-bed seats with direct-aisle access in Delta One, 32 in Delta Comfort+ and 168 in Main Cabin.
HNL-HND will be operated using Delta’s Boeing 767-300ER. This fleet type is currently being retrofitted with a new cabin interior and in-flight entertainment system.

-------------
Five routes. Five different aircraft.

Tokyo Olympics begin in July 2020. These routes above will be running by then. Wonder if charters will be relegated to NRT. If so, DL might keep some operations there open (and possibly SIN and MNL) until after the Olympics end.

ATL-NRT-ATL moves from a 359 to a 77L on March 29, 2020 so that does not reflect the press release unless the 77L on that route is just a temporary change.

All sounds good, except the B763ER fleet is NOT "...currently being retrofitted with a new cabin interior...." Only one B764 has been completed but is still at CAN until May 24/25 while its new IFE system is being sorted out. There has not been a timetable released for the B763ER mods to begin AFAIK.

JFK-BOM flights loaded into the schedule starting December 20th ...

920p JFK - 10:50p BOM next day
1250a BOM - 640a JFK

Looks like those two 77L frames will be exclusive to that city pair. Cannot find any regularly scheduled 77L positioning flights ATL-JFK or LAX-JFK during the first 3 months of operation according to ITA Matrix search.

A conservative betting man would say that the PDX-LHR rotation will migrate from 763ER-low J to 332 during S20 to allow this frame to rotate into the network with the ATL-LHR or DTW-LHR rotations.

Except for the 7am/3pm departures, all JFK-LAX flights for W19/20 are still sitting as place sitters on the 763ER-high Js. Expect that to change and allow a 7CB rotation as well as changes to other airframes over the next few weeks/months.

yes and no. it currently is but this is temporary and generally unscheduled as the 7CB conversions happened quicker than expected and the 7CD aircraft are going through some maintenance. as soon as LAX-CDG transfers over from 333, ATL-NRT will revert back to 7CD for the S19 schedule period.
