It looks like 7001, N860DA, is ferrying to SIN, via NRT, for mods and presumably 7003, N862DA, is almost ready to ferry back to the US:

Re: Delta Widebody Thread - 2019

I was just looking through DL's June long haul schedules, and I noticed that there were some fleeting changes loaded recently that I haven't seen reported yet:

SEA-CDG: 333 -> 76T
DTW-LHR #1: 76L -> 332 (now 1x 332 + 1x 76L)
DTW-CDG #2: 332 -> 76L (now 1x 76Z + 1x 76L)
DTW-AMS #4: 333 -> 332 (Mondays only, otherwise still 333)
DTW-FCO: 333 -> 76Z
CVG-CDG: 76Z -> 76L
ATL-DUB: 333 -> 764
ATL-BCN: 333 -> 764
ATL-CDG #1: 333 -> 772 (now 2x 772)
ATL-MUC: 764 -> 76Z
ATL-ZRH: 76Z -> 76L
ATL-MXP: 76Z -> 764
ATL-FCO #1: 764 -> 333 (now 2x 333)
JFK-CDG #1: 333 -> 332 (now 1x 332 + 1x 333)
JFK-TXL: 76Z -> 764
JFK-VCE: 764 -> 76L
JFK-PRG: 76Z -> 764
JFK-ATH #2: 764 -> 333 (now 2x 333)

Also, on the domestic side there's a 777 rotation showing on LAX-ATL-LAX (presumably will be a 77L, although the seatmaps and designations for the 777 subfleets on the website are hard to follow as of now...), while JFK-SFO is losing the single daily 764 rotation that was previously scheduled and will now be 8x daily 752.

With these changes, I believe the schedule is now operable with the current fleet, whereas previously the 333s had been over-extended. As always, more tweaks may still be coming over the next few months.

What type maintenance are being done on the fleets that aren't having their cabin upgraded ( routine / heavy )?

What's the latest on the last two 763's, as far as time left in the fleet? It's been said several times that they'd be gone a year or so ago...but they seem to keep chugging along.

6 hours seems like a long time for a medical emergency.

CAN (767) and MSP (333) have recently seen most of the heavy maintenance work. ATL (767/777) mostly routine short-term stuff. ILN (767) has recently started seeing some heavy stuff i believe.

Life seems to get extended and extended and extended... As far as i can see, they'll be doing NFL charters and one-off upgrades until the Super Bowl. They're then back on ATL-SLC rotations from 2/15 until 4/21.

I just had a look at my end (i always use the first Monday in August) and you are certainly right that progress has been made. My spreadsheet now shows an "operable" schedule subject to a few assumptions:
763ER-high J: 14/12 (i'm assuming DL will transfer two of those routes to low-J as load predictability improves)
763ER-high J(T): 7/7
763ER-low J: 32/37 (not sure the schedule allows for pre-summer retirements)
332: 11/11
764 (Delta Suites): 0/1
764: 21/20 (I think the Delta Suites frame will stay as a spare during the summer holiday as did the 772 one last summer and that one of the routes will migrate to 763ER-low J)
339: 0/0 (I'm assuming the 339 fleet will be going through FAA approval and internal testing during summer months)
772 (Delta Suites): 2/8 (DL just recently uploaded 77L Delta Suites on its website - best to look at combined 772/77L numbers for now)
77L (Delta Suites): 10/4 (DL just recently uploaded 77L Delta Suites on its website - best to look at combined 772/77L numbers for now)
77L: 5/6
333: 20/21
333 (High MTOW): 10/10
359: 13/13

Is there a way you can tell from the schedules which routes are operated by high MTOW 333s vs the older 333s?

None that i'm aware of. I'm assuming the same as last summer will happen whereby a non-MTOW 333 acted as hot spare.

Interesting perspective. I would have thought Delta would rather have people pay the premium for their “flagship” product on a route like JFK-LHR and downgrade/compensate if something happens with that frame than give a “free” upgrade when a scheduled frame goes OOS.

That said, I trust you much more than myself on the topic.

I am purely speculating at this stage based on last year's experience with the sole 772 with Delta Suites. It certainly will be interesting to see where DL will send their initial batch of 764 with DSuites. Especially given the routes to be flown by the 764 in S19 include a lot cross-country flying, Hawaii routes and what some may consider second tier TATL/South American routes. There is no LHR/CDG/AMS etc... Will DL chose to upgrade 764 routes to 764 with DSuites or will it look further afield in its network to routes flown by other aircraft but flying on routes with greater competition from airlines with a superior product?

Do we think there will only be 1, 764 with D1 suites by the summer schedule? Or will enough be completed to switch JFK-LHR (2 frames), JFK/BOS-LHR (3 frames), JFK/BOS/ATL-LHR (5 frames), etc??

Most likely just 1. Maybe 2. Even less likely 3. You're looking at 60-90 day conversion for the prototype which takes us into March/April given it entered in early January. Then testing + gaining FAA approval for the prototype, say another 30-60 days. So a second frame could enter CAN around end of May? But you're hitting close to peak summer schedule by the time that second frame would come out. I think you'll see 2-3 mod lines starting in the Fall 2019 which will allow full conversion of the fleet during W19-20. The preliminary Nov/Dec 2019 schedule shows usage of 13x 764s so you can interpolate that a lot of them will be going through conversion at that time.

1) Do you know if the 764s post-mod will feature all 4 cabins (Suites, Premium Select, Comfort Plus, Main Cabin) or will there be no Comfort Plus?
2) The current seat count on the 764s is 246 seats. Do you know what the new seat count on the 764s will be post-mods?

Well one thing is certain and that is the D1 cabin will probably shrink by 8 - 10 seats. The B777s now have 28 D1 Suites, compared to 37 D1 seats previously, so with the B763ERs/764s possibly going to a staggered 1-1-1 layout similar to the Polaris seats on UA's B763ERs, and if there are still 10 rows of seats in the new cabin, then the D1 Suites cabin will have 30 seats, resulting in a loss of 10 seats. All speculation at this point.

The JFK-LHR-JFK flights are different than the longer TPAC flights like LAX-SYD-LAX or DTW-NRT-DTW. They could potentially upgrade DL Flight 1 (JFK-LHR) to the single modded B764, that way it can depart JFK in the evening and arrive LHR early the next morning. It can then depart LHR later in the morning and get back to JFK in time to turn around in time as DL1 again. They could then increase the presence of modded B764s on LHR flights, especially those that use the A332. The B764 and A332 have a very similar capacity. (246 on the B764 vs 234 on the A332).

The 764 will have all 4 cabins. 33 in D1 so I assume 1-1-1 configuration 20 in Premium Select 28 in C+ 156 in Main cabin for a total of 237 seats which is down from the current 245 seats.

Edit to my above post. New here and can't seem to find a edit button but looks like 34 D1 seats, I read it wrong on our company page. 33 seats will be available for missions over 8 hours as 1 seat will be for crew rest. Not quite sure how that layout is gonna look though.

Thanks for that and welcome to the discussion! Those numbers look pretty close to the current 332 seat distribution. One can sort of see over the next year a migration of key competitive business routes from 332 -> 764(DS) such as JFK/ATL-LHR as mentioned above. Trickling all that down with the arrival of the 339s and departure of some of the 763ERs, we are most likely to see a 763ER -> 332 -> 764 -> 339/333 migration rather than a direct 763ER -> 339/333 migration except where the 339's legs are needed. Perhaps we'll even see the 332s take over the Asian routes from Seattle as part of this shuffle?

With AMS and CDG getting A350s (AMS only) and refurbished 777s, it would make sense to put the refurbished 767-400s on the LHR flights, as the new configuration will be have a very close capacity to the A330-200, an aircraft which handles most of the LHR flights now. That means Delta’s 3 largest TATL markets will get their newest international cabin product.

I show 34 D1, 20 PY, 21 C+ and 163 Y for a total of 238.

1804 will be the only ship to be completed before the summer, so it'll run as a spare.

I am going by what Network Planning has under "Aircraft Fleet." Not sure which one is correct but either way the more important seats is 34 D1 and 20 Premium Select match up haha!

Yesterday's seat map from MSP>CDG>ATL and today's from ATL>CDG>ATL don't confirm this, as all the flights still show seats in row 41, which will not exist on the 4-class config.The new config will have row 40 with seats A/B/D/E/F, and no seats in row 41. The seat map for N862DA is showing row 40 with A/B/C/D/E/F/G/H/J, and row 41 with A/B/D/E/ F. I'm guessing that the seat map for these flights is incorrect, despite the correct seat map showing up for flights after 1st March.

I was just looking through DL's June long haul schedules, and I noticed that there were some fleeting changes loaded recently that I haven't seen reported yet:

SEA-CDG: 333 -> 76T
DTW-LHR #1: 76L -> 332 (now 1x 332 + 1x 76L)
DTW-CDG #2: 332 -> 76L (now 1x 76Z + 1x 76L)
DTW-AMS #4: 333 -> 332 (Mondays only, otherwise still 333)
DTW-FCO: 333 -> 76Z
CVG-CDG: 76Z -> 76L
ATL-DUB: 333 -> 764
ATL-BCN: 333 -> 764
ATL-CDG #1: 333 -> 772 (now 2x 772)
ATL-MUC: 764 -> 76Z
ATL-ZRH: 76Z -> 76L
ATL-MXP: 76Z -> 764
ATL-FCO #1: 764 -> 333 (now 2x 333)
JFK-CDG #1: 333 -> 332 (now 1x 332 + 1x 333)
JFK-TXL: 76Z -> 764
JFK-VCE: 764 -> 76L
JFK-PRG: 76Z -> 764
JFK-ATH #2: 764 -> 333 (now 2x 333)

Noticed a few more small updates loaded last weekend in the June schedule:

PDX-LHR: 76L -> 76Z
SLC-LHR: 76L -> 76Z
MSP-LHR: 76L -> 76Z
DTW-LHR #2: 76L -> 76Z
JFK-AMS #1: 76Z -> 764

I believe that brings the 767 frames needed for the June schedule to:
76T: 6 out of 7
76L: 10 out of 12
76Z: 37 out of 37
764: 20 out of 21

7CD: MSP-CDG flight - first commercial flight with 4 class cabin configuration (N862DA)

Right. We won't see the C+ mod start for another 2 weeks.

For those seeking clarity, the Delta website recently changed nomenclature and currently lists 3 configurations for the 777s in its online schedule:
777 refers to remaining 77L/772 without Delta Suites (9x 77L and 1x 772 as of today)
772ER refers to Delta Suites 77L/772 in 3 class configuration (1x 77L and 4x 772 as of today)
772LR refers to Delta Suites 77L/772 in 4 class configuration (1x 772 active + 2x 772 currently in SIN as of today)

This will obviously change again to reflect further updates as the fleet gets refurbished.
Still nothing in the timetable about the 764 with Delta Suites or the 339.

For those keeping track of the 777 conversions, latest updated DL schedule indicates:
> on or about 2/1, N860DA will exit conversion and be replaced by a 77L as ATL-AMS migrates back to 333
> on or about 2/8, N861DA with exit conversion and be replaced by N867DA (the final 772) as ATL-CDG migrates to 7HD
> on or about 3/1, two more will exit conversion and be replaced by two 77L as ATL-NRT migrates to 7HD

That will take us to 8/8 772s and 4/10 77Ls converted by early/mid April.
