N706DN has been at MSP for the last eight days. Is it likely to be there for mx, or will MSP be a second hub that can do the 4-class updates?

It has some damage to the nose gear. I believe the tug jackknifed on ice.

ATL-SLC is currently loaded 763 until 4/21. This doesn't necessarily mean its the end date but it at least gives up a goal post.

Obviously these planes are completely paid for and have to have decent economics flying 261 PAX around mostly hub to hub... My educated guess on what DL is doing is loading them up into the system for the next quarter and if fuel prices remain under a certain threshold where the economics make sense they will keep flying them.. What I see bringing them to the end of their service life will be when they hit cycle and hour limits which will trigger the next heavy maintenance.

I know DL also loves the economics of the 757-300's with 234 pax flying around domestic routes with lots of demand.

Well that didn't last long...N709DN is now operating DL2795 from ATL>MSP this evening, instead of N866DA, which was originally listed to do it! N866DA will now operate DL82 from ATL>CDG tomorrow, which it was originally scheduled to do, the unknown being was it also going to do an ATL>MSP>ATL turn first? Both FlightAware and FR24 showed the ATL>MSP flight on N866DA, before it was subbed!

Probably just a re-positioning flight. Since it's a hub-to-hub flight, upgrading the aircraft to such an amount won't really hurt them...

Nope. The prototype will the one from TLS. After that the mods should take about as long as the 777s C+ mod

Do you or anyone else in the know happen to know what the seat count will be ( in the 4 class configuration)for the entire plane?
Thanks in advance and my apologies if it has already been posted.

The 4 class 777’s will all have 288 seats.

Do you know if they will have 3 or more 77Ls finished in time for LAX-SYD-LAX to use the new 77L daily, or could they use some new 77Es until enough 77Ls will be finished? I believe April will be when LAX-SYD-LAX will go entirely new 777.

From what I've heard all of the 777's will have the 4 class mods done by March. And I'm not sure, the 77E can definitely make it, albeit the cargo uplift will be less than the 77L,but they should have no problem filling up the cabin, but for now it'll strictly be 77L from what I can tell.

Does anyone know the final seat count for the A350-900 after the 4 class configuration is installed ?

As of today, only 1/18 B777s has the 4-class cabin installed, so there might be 3-4 more done by the end of March. Only 1/10 77Ls has had the D1 Suites installed, and that one doesn't even have the 4-class cabin yet.

Ok, so we’re probably looking at mid summer for class mods to be complete.

The first one will be delivered in 2020 with the 4-class cabin, I’d imagine around the ~290 ish range.

They never do, funnily enough the 77L seat count approaches the capacity of a low density 77W while maintaining 9-abreast and 32” pitch

Noteworthy Aircraft Activity 2/15
763: 10:51am ATL-SLC flight migrates from 753 effective 2/15 (N140LL)
763: 9:28pm ATL-SLC flight migrates from 321 effective 2/15 (N140LL)
763: 2:00pm ATL-SLC flight migrates from 752 effective 2/15 (N1402A)

So DL put both active 763 non ERs on ATL - SLC rotation. Before they were busy with military charters. What happened?

This may have been answered before, but why aren't the modifications being done in the US? I assume cost, but it cannot be inexpensive to ferry a plane to and from Asia.

A recent change I noticed in the summer 2019 schedule is that JFK-DSS, formerly scheduled as a 3x weekly 752 service, is now showing as a 2x weekly 763 service (Tues/Sat outbound, Mon/Thurs inbound). This fills in the gaps in the 5x weekly 763 JFK-ACC service, so there should be a daily 763 departure on JFK-Africa. Plus the 3x weekly 332 to LOS.
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

Is it right to assume that all these transcon upguages from 757 to 767 were due to the 120+ MPH winds blowing from west to east across the continental US the past few days?
Here in Nashville we have been getting diversions of ER-175's going LGA-DFW coming in for fuel on their way due to up to 150 MPH headwinds right on the nose.

Delta released its 10-K last week and, on the widebody front, the only interesting tidbit is the revised 339 delivery schedule:
2019: 4
2020: 4
2021: 9
2022+: 18

The first batch of 17x 339s match one-for-one the oldest batch of 17x 763ERs (1990-93 builds; 171-184 + 152-156). I am speculating at this stage as things remain dynamic at Delta in terms of retirement (i.e. fuel price, demand, growth, maintenance, cycles, engines...) but based on info at hand, I expect the following:

> 2x 339s delivered in Q2-2019 to act as spares during S19 schedule (as well as going through FAA loops)
> 339s to enter scheduled service in Sep-2019, most likely SEA-Asia/Europe routes
> 2x 339s delivered in Q3/Q4-2019, join the SEA-Asia/Europe fleet
> 4x 763ERs (76Ls) retired during W19-20, namely N171DN, N172DN, N174DN and N175DN. All are 1990 builds and are due for maintenance in that period

Looking at the recent maintenance visits of the 17x oldest 763ERs gives us a bit of an idea of the pecking order for retirements:
171/172/174/175 - maintenance in ATL in W17/18 but nothing since
179/180 - heavies in CAN in W17/18
154/155/181 - new paint in AMA in W17/18
152/176/177/178/156/182/183/184 - heavies in CAN/VQQ/ATL/ILN in W18/19

Interestingly, it looks like we will see the end of the 76L fleet by 2020.

Any word on routes for the 764s with the new cabin?

This is a W19-20 issue as the lone 764 with D-Suite will fly as a spare during S19. If i was to speculate, the first few will likely fly on high profile TATL routes currently flown by 332/764. So ATL/JFK-LHR could be good bets. The reality is that all 21 764s will be converted in very quick order (4 simultaneous lines in CAN) so all routes currently flown by 332/764 are candidates for them in S20.

When the 332s get their new flagship cabins, their overall seat capacity will likely be drawn down to around what the 763s have now, making them the prime low-capacity widebody Jets.

Correct. 7CB mods occur in ATL post 7HB mods in SIN.
