I presume the 359 is considered the flagship. Look at an availability screen on Delta.com from DTW to ICN for example. The flights featuring the 359 have a little red tag that says "Flagship".

It depends on the block time. I believe the specific thresholds are in the CBA, but I think you need an FB on flights 8-12 hours and an FC only on flights over 12 hours. The 767 isn't a 12-hour plane for most airlines.

What is an FC?

It's the shorthand for the fourth pilot. I don't know what it stands for, unfortunately.

DL is marketing the 359 as "New Flagship." But does it matter, when the 359 and refurbished 777 have almost exactly the same hard and soft products?

You're right the advantages of the A359 are a few things that cant be seen with the eyes.. The A350 engine noise is much lower than the 777, also the cabin air is pressurized to a lower cabin altitude. I was really impressed with the A350 on a relatively short DTW-AMSin D1 it would be a great plane to fly 10-12 hour legs to Asia or Australia.

With only two weeks from today until the A330neo inaugural on SEA-PVG, when can we expect to see cabin photos of the plane?

I heard from various sources that it WOULD have the Suites (exact same ones as the 350/777). Have you seen the inside of the plane in person?

This followed an extra AMS-TPA sector by 763ER-low J - N1602 to recover yesterdays cancellation of AMS-TPA.

Yes, diverted to Montreal for medical. Here's a video a YUL spotter posted.

As of Dec 2018 I've flown 417,862 miles on 250 flights on 51 airplane types with 55 airlines traveling thru 97 airports in 43 countries. I've visited 59 countries. 2019 is looking like a pretty decent year for me.

That is slightly inaccurate from what I understand. The 76D has new trim and finish and i would imaine it would be in line with that new aircraft.

Curious: when might one see the A339 at ATL or JFK? What about the A359? (NYC is DL's second biggest market after Atlanta.)

NYC may be DL's second largest market, but the A359 was ordered as a transpacific aircraft and JFK has -zero- (DL-operated) transpacific flights. With a limited number of aircraft and no crew base at JFK, I'm uncertain as to why DL would even bother to rotate them through the market. Alas, I wouldn't expect regular A359 rotations through JFK this generation.

The A339, OTOH, will likely be used systemwide. In the short-term, they're more likely to be scheduled over longer flights than the 333, so JFK may be one of the last hubs to see regular service.

I do think JFK-TLV will see the 33N sooner rather than later.

The 359? Zero chance.

Once the A339 replaces the A350 on SEA-NRT, and if it possibly replaces the A350 on LAX-PVG/HND, then where will those West Coast TPAC A350s go? More TATL? More TPAC out of different hubs?

Not sure about others, but ATL-NRT switches to an A350 some time in October.
Careful, doors are closing, and will not reopen. Please wait for the next train.

And you can clearly see a difference in the trim and finish for the 764 product. Most likely the 339 will follow that design language. I imagine it will look similar but not exactly like the 777 and 359.

I keep hearing rumors that DL maybe launching SEA-SIN or SEA-MNL. SIN is high yielding (remember UA flies the old Polaris 2-2-2 config and its FULL everyday due to great demand) and DL is the only US carrier in MNL with a loyal following. MNL would be A339 and SIN would be A350 (that's where the free'd A350's/A339's go).

UA doesn't fly either route non-stop. It's a connection via SFO to SIN, and a connection via NRT to MNL. Currently no airlines fly either route non-stop, so I'm not sure how much demand there would be and would it likely be seasonal?

Note that there is a hot spare in the 77L fleet during S19. The spare hasn't been needed this week so is sitting at ATL. Probably using the time to do some small maintenance on it.

All of the JFK cancels are unavailable crew due to the IROPs. The DUB diversion was supposed to change crew in JFK but the fly didn't have a crew for them as well.

Anyone know why today's DL583 is an A332!? Is it going to be weight restricted!?

Probably just a few seats blocked. The A330-200 has some legs even at 230/233t

Down an A359 due to a lightning strike.

Wow that's 600nm further than SEA-HKG which the 332 did for a while. I suppose the generally lighter summer winds help in this case.

Anyone know how long that 359 will be down due to the lightning strike?

Interesting that they flew it with a 332 rather than their spare 77L.

Any idea when N402DX is gonna fly to SEA? According to FlightAware, it hasn’t flown since the delivery flight from TLS-ATL on June 13. Looks like they’ll need 2 frames in order for SEA-PVG-SEA to be daily.

DL is marketing the 359 as "New Flagship." But does it matter, when the 359 and refurbished 777 have almost exactly the same hard and soft products?

My guess is that it matters to Boeing.
