EBQ out this morning operating QF119 BNE-AKL.
Should be the 6th longhaul 27J 332.

No replacement in BNE yet but might take a couple of days after weather in SYD yesterday.

From reports on AFF appears EBG is scheduled through to late Feb, so would suggest EBM and EBN will be refurbed over Jan and Feb, with EBG finally! Going in for refurb early March.

From the 2018 thread also expecting the retirement of OEB by this time, so EBG should mark the end of non- fully flat beds and the RC IFE

@qf789 possibly time for another of your lists.
Particularly interested in the current inflight internet count

Are all 332s with wifi the real wifi or do some of them only have for inflight entertainment?

Flew to Perth on EBF and I believe it’s inflight entertainment wifi only and back on EBB which has proper internet wifi.

The domestic fleet (EBA-EBL) is having the real wifi installed - not all have completed though. Flew EBJ last week and it also hasa IFE only.

Currently
9 332s with iPads of which a few have inflight internet
1 with Rockwell Collins IFE (EBG which will be converted to iPads seemingly from March)
8 332s with the 9" Panasonic screens (6 so far converted to the longhaul config, and the other 2 soon)

The longhaul 332s won't get the inflight internet for now. Possibly might from 2022 once ViaSat launches the new satellites but suspect QF will fit the 787s, 380s first

Thanks @QF789 awesome list!!

Can’t wait until we see the 380 refits, curious what the end result of the bar/lounge are turns out to be along with refreshed first.

When do the 789 delivery dates get firmed up? Curious when the next one is on property.

From the following only up to LN900 is known, with Boeing increasing production to 14 a month we will likely see around up to LN950 delivered by end of 2019, I have always been under the suspiscion that the next 789 for Qantas would be towards the last quarter of this year

Thanks qf789.
Surprised so few internet installations on the 737s - only 24 is less than one a fortnight over 2018

QF doesn't seem to have many aircraft on order. Yet its fleet is not exactly young, with an average age approaching 12 years. What's the plan? Only a half dozen 789s on order?
Plane mad!

Still plenty of 787 options at cheap prices.

Currently deciding between 777 and 350 for large Ultra longhaul and will likely make an order in next 12 months.

Would also expect it to make large order for 797s which will replace some older 737s and 332s.

Surprised so few internet installations on the 737s - only 24 is less than one a fortnight over 2018

According to the following QF have 42 737's with WIFI, So I am missing one off the list

And just linking to vorellanaj's post on possible 747 retirements over 2019/2020 based on availability dates

viewtopic.php?p=20866707#p20866707.

If it's still correct OJS and OEB must be down to their last weeks.

I too echo the thanks for the work/updates qf789 does. So now I thought I would kick off 2019 with my first observation. 'Domestic' A332 -EBE entered BNE maintenance on JAN 01. Possibly including a WIFI hump install? :)

Given its been 10days I'd guess so.
That explains what replaced EBL after its reconfig.

Left to reconfigure for the 332s -
Internet hump - EBA, (EBE), EBF, EBJ, EBK
Longhaul 27J - EBM, EBN
Domestic 28J + Hump - EBG

Has it been confirmed that EBM and EBN will infact go 27J longhaul config?

QLink B717 NXD positioned CNS-TSV on Monday evening, suggesting she will be the first B717 to be repainted into the new livery.

Would be interesting if NXK, NXL and NXM continue to be bypassed as they are the three still hanging out in 1980s livery (and they look 'average').

Qantas to send 717's for heavy maintenance to Singapore from June 2019, presumably we may see some repainted there as well

I’m just now sitting on a QF 73H en route MEL-HBA in seat 9F, looking out the window at the smoke haze. When I look across the aisle, 9A has no window at all. Is this standard for all 73Hs? Why no window?

B717 NXD is due to position TSV-CNS this evening with her shiny new look - first B717 in the new livery.

Q400 QOW went into paint in TSV yesterday, leaving QOU and the LQ* series in the 2008 livery.

Most (all?) 737s have a 'missing' window as there are cables and ducting running vertically through that area.

There’s 2 rows without windows. Depending on configuration it’s usually around 9A and 11A.

The aircraft I was on had limited window access for 11A but absolutely none for 9A.

It was hit by VA ground equipment in MEL, hence why it hasn’t flown for a week now

Ohh ouch! How does that happen? At international I assume? I don’t think that’s VA, it’s a handling agent below wing for VA.

Come off it. Someone working the ramp most probably couldn't care less, not least since it was most likely a contractor (Swissport?)

Yes, reliable sources indicate VA ground equipment hit the aircraft. Believe the aircraft operated a BNE-MEL sector & not flown since then.

From what I’ve heard the repairs aren’t simple as a B737/B767/B747 hence a team from Boeing will perform the repairs. Had it been a B747 would have taken 1-2 days and back into service.

Thanks for the correction. The aircraft operated QF30 HKG-MEL 24JAN. There was a BNE-MEL B789 service cancelled as a result of -ZNG being grounded.

They don’t have names as far as I know. Why weren’t they allocated names?

Thanks for this information. Do you know what the theme will be? I assume the Tassie Devil special livery on -YQW will go at this point. I really liked it, although it is looking a bit faded and weathered now.

Heavy maintenance & sources have indicated the aircraft is there for reconfiguration too.

Not sure where you got that info but it has both the retro logo and a name on the nose (name being the somewhat lengthy 'Berowra Valley National Park').
