I believe XZB was the trial aircraft for B738 WiFi before it was launched fleet wide. Possibly featured older generation hardware compared to what was rolled out across the rest of the B738 fleet??
Speaking of B738 WiFi, 64/75 aircraft have it fitted (~85%).
Registrations remaining without it are:
VXB
VXC
*VXD (Possibly being fitted in SYD Maintenance)
VXM
VXU
VYD
VYH
VYJ
VYK
VZD
XZB

Anybody have a link to that aircraft for sale website that lists the exact dates the QF 744s become available?
Trying to work out when the last non-ER 744 will be out of the fleet and just the ERs are left.

Thank you.
I eventually found a pic I took of that info - 15 August was the date for the last non-ER VH-OJU to be available for purchase.
All of the other retirement dates from that source have been correct so far but who knows...
Just wanted to make sure the 744 fleet was all ER before booking a domestic 744 flight or the Antarctic flight.

OJU will be around until October from what I’m hearing. Then it will be all ERs remaining.

Do you mind sharing the picture?

I think that would be a great touch - but unlikely, just like the Balarinji indigenous designs, each generation of QF management like to ensure they are refresh and don’t copy another.
When are the 330s due to be finished reconfig?

Emirates in DXB recently did the repaint for 8.
Korean Air in BUS Busan has done 1 repaint and will do other 3
Seems as though Etihad in AUH has got the contract for the major 8-yr maintenance checks
The upper deck refurb is being done by Airbus in DRS Dresden

moa999 wrote:I think QF (like AA) has pretty much decided to go BYO Wifi IFE for Domestic, although we haven't seen a new domestic aircraft since 2014 (and the screens in those latter 737 are starting to look dated)
The 2-class 717s got new seat covers, WiFi IFE and iPad mini in 2014/5 (but I think are now BYO).
Will have to wait for the next domestic order (possibly 797) to see though.
The 321XLRs (likely with some for Qantas from 2024) id expect to have seatback IFE but be used more on international routes)

This makes me happy. I always had a soft spot for VH-TJE because of her name
