The 44% (rounding up) on DL to CVG really stands out. Would this be a route WN could pick up in the near future? Seems like O&D from STL is NOT very good at all, but with all the WN connections, it could work out well to supplement it. Thoughts? I'll hang up and listen.

Yea. Not sure how much longer it will hold on. It hardly ever shows up for connections on DL for me. WN has other routes they run with less O&D to STL so it’s possible if DL cuts it.

It seems more like a February thing. Look at DL's 47% STL-LGA (on Endeavor). They won't be cutting that anytime soon.

If I remember correctly weather in STL and the east coast was pretty dicey in January. That probably didn't help things at LGA. CVG wasn't far off last year but It isn't like they have great numbers any month. At least LGA is better spring-summer.

If delta is going to be adding routes like JFK-BOM, I think its time we try and get one of our million LGA flights moved over

An AA flight from LGA to STL was delayed today (I think it just landed here at about 8:30 pm) somehow not because of weather but because of a fight that made it return to the gate apparently

I've though that for a while. If/when JFK is added, it will most likely be Delta 2x daily on Endeavor.

C29. The first lower cut out or stairwell whatever it is, is just after 29 (last higher one is just before 29). I think there is a jetbridge there now but not sure if they used it. WOW would overnight in that spot sometimes so I think it’s just a parking spot. They might have gotten off somewhere else and parked it there.

Beginning in Oct DL is upgrading SLC,DTW and MSP to all mainline. DTW will be 5x daily 717s, SLC 3x daily a319s and MSP a mix of a319, a320 and 717s.

I had seen that on SLC. Figured it might be WN reaction. We will see if they all stick though. A long way out to change them back.

DL could use the A220's on its STL-DTW, STL-MSP, STL-LGA, and STL-SLC nonstop routes once DL gets more A220's.

I think the DL A220's will eventually make their way to STL. These are all logical.
More DL mainline in the market is a good sign. Hopefully they make some adds like SEA/LAX/BOS/JFK

BOS seems most likely. I'm surprised DL & B6 have allowed WN to have this route to themselves all these years. Could LAX & SEA support 3 carriers? STL had JFK on DL about 10 years ago but it was dropped. Seems like most airports outside of the eastern US have minimal or no service at all to JFK.

STL can probably support nonstop service to LAX and SEA on 3 carriers since there are markets in the Midwest other than MSP, CHI, and DTW that have nonstop service to LAX and SEA on at least 3 carriers.

STL is currently the largest market that doesn't have any nonstop service to JFK, and most of the similarly sized markets already have nonstop service to JFK. The next largest markets in the U.S. without nonstop service to JFK are MCI, PVD, MKE, OKC, MEM, SDF, BDL, and BHM.

Most of the major domestic destinations outside of the LGA perimeter such as AUS, HNL, LAS, LAX, PHX, PDX, SMF, SLC, SAT, SAN, SFO, and SEA already have nonstop service to JFK.

DL is the best bet, actually only bet, for JFK service. It would basically be feed for trans Atlantic flights. DL is probably happy feeding this traffic to DTW and ATL. BOS would definitely make sense. As a DL flyer I can say one issue they may be experiencing is space in STL. A can get a bit cramped at times, especially in the AM.

LAX is a big enough market that I think DL would work and it would give people in STL connection to SkyTeam flights out of LAX. I don't know if I see them jumping on SEA right now and I think they have more important fish to fry there.

It has been very quiet lately on new service/airlines.

I will strongly consider switching from UA to DL if DL ever starts regular JFK service (at least as frequent as UA service to EWR).

Of the top domestic destinations traveled to from SEA that DL doesn't currently serve nonstop from SEA, only DFW/DAL, IAH/HOU, and PHL have more O&D demand from SEA than STL does.

While I agree that DL has more important fish to fry at SEA, DL adding STL-SEA nonstop service might happen as STL is one of the top domestic destinations that DL doesn't currently serve nonstop from SEA.

I agree that DL adding STL-LAX might happen since DL already serves LAX nonstop from CVG, CMH, DTW, IND, MCI, and MSP in the Midwest.

I kind of have a feeling we are going to see a pullback on new TATL routes to smaller cities after WOW and others have gone under for a bit. Could be wrong, but I just get that vibe.

Finished up my frequency spreadsheet for June.

I also added seat counts for the Legacys. I did seat counts for Mondays so they don't exactly tell you the full count difference YoY but it gives you and idea

MAX changes meant 29 fewer weekly flights from WN than were scheduled. I have the original MAX numbers in the final tab.

Flights per week (YoY difference)
WN 813 +14 (1.8%) Originally 5.4% before MAX adjustment
AA 257 -14 (-5.2%)
DL 204 +9 (4.6)
UA 203 +12 (6.3%)
F9 38 +10 (35.7%)
G4 32 +2 (6.67%)
AS 21 +1 (5%)
AC 21 +2 (10.5%)
SY 6

STL 1729 +43 (2.55%)
BLV/STL 1761 +45 (2.62%)

Actual Seat Count YoY difference

These are Monday only numbers. DL is still probably down but they have added weekend flights that even it out more.
AA is probably more like even. Their Monday/Thursday schedules are the busiest. Tu/W/F drop down some.
These numbers are out to the right on the chart.

UA +2.16%
AA +.69%
DL -1.93%

UA SFO-STL NOV 1.8>1.0[1.8] DEC 1.9>1.0[1.9] JAN 1.9>1.0[1.2] FEB 1.8>1.0[1.0]
Losing the a.m. e175 flight but upgrading evening flight to a319. This leaves STL without an early morning flight to the Bay area. WN's SFO flight isn't until 10:45 am and OAK & SJC are afternoon. Would love to see AS jump in or WN add an earlier flight.

What else can G4 add at BLV? Do you think they'll wait to see if the airport gets expansion funds before any major expansion?

Sarasota and Savannah probably are the most likely IMO. The expansion is putting in customs so after that maybe CUN (assuming G4 makes that one of their destinations).
None that I have a real strong feeling about though. Still interested to see if they bring LAS back or not. I am a little surprised they got rid of it for next winter in the first place.

I agree that BLV-SRQ and BLV-SAV are the most likely G4 adds. Other possible adds by G4 out of BLV include BLV-CHS, BLV-GPT, BLV-TYS, and BLV-ORF.

Is space/capacity at BLV what's inhibiting expansion? I haven't seen any updates on them getting the funding to expand BLV and even with expansion, that's a couple of years away from completion.

I do know that the taxpayers would have to fund about $6 million of the project with the balance coming from a Federal grant. $35 million is a TON of money to drop on BLV without any guarantee of new growth (that we know of). The county also subsidies BLV as well. The grant hasn't been approved, so until (if) that happens, not much will happen.

I don't understand BLV at all. They are wasting taxpayer money to expand the airport because it is too small for G4 and needs the capability to be international when all of those problems could be solved by closing BLV and moving the flights to STL

Agreed. BLV was conceived during a time when TWA had a massive hub at STL and there was a lack of gates and capacity. In the 90’s it was not uncommon to wait for a gate and huge lineups heading to the runways.

For BLV to expand and only rely on G4 sounds insane. If G4 pulls out they are back to nothing. Now if NK were to add service as well... but I think they’d go for STL.
Add some ramps at BLV and let passengers board from the tarmac. Much less expensive.

Actually G4 is pretty popular and well liked by the locals. It seems that G4 has a little niche at BLV... now as far as the county goes that may be a whole other story lol. I actually used G4 a couple weeks ago and was pretty impressed with them.

Agreed. BLV was conceived during a time when TWA had a massive hub at STL and there was a lack of gates and capacity. In the 90’s it was not uncommon to wait for a gate and huge lineups heading to the runways.

I think my point is for the county to spend millions on expanding an airport that was losing money for so long is a tough sell. Is G4 putting anything in? I didn’t think so. How is the airport to guarantee service if they proceed with the renovation work. When there’s just one airline, they can easily pull out if their business changes.

Now with that said, I think the expansion looks good. It would be interesting to see G4 get the BLV numbers to 500kper year. That would be quite the operation.

They do already have one ramp for ground boarding. They really just need to base a couple planes here like they do other small airports. Then they could spread their flights out more. Issue now is they they have 2 or 3 here at a time at some points and none at other times. Which makes the current space too small at those times. If you based a couple planes here you could have earlier departures in the morning and later arrivals at night and spread things out so the current room is more adequate.

Also Apple Vacations updated their schedule for 2020.

Frontier will be running the same schedule on Cancun and Punta Cana as this year.

Cancun - Daily (except 3x a week August-early November)
Punta Cana - 3x a week Late December-July

Totally out there but there is a new airline called Flybosnia that has been flying to odder destinations from Bosnia. Now, what's an odd destination that has the most amount of Bosnians besides Bosnia itself?

Edit:name change

The STL.... Who knows. Are you talking about FlyBosnia? They'd need a bigger plane that the A319 :-)

Haha yep, they are expanding their fleet though, those 319s are just to start.

A headscratcher for SY to have those load factors to Tampa and Ft Myers in just the 1st or second month of operation and not bring them back again this fall.

They were selling them at 39 each, not exactly profitable. They still haven't published all the schedule yet we will see
