Avolon aren't a new customer. They've had loads since 2017.
The Hong Kong might not be happening btw. Things are going on behind the scenes with the outstanding Hainan Airlines Holding group orders but the situation is currently unclear.
This will be the 1st delivery from their own direct order, earlier ones were sale and leaseback deliveries. Those are listed by Boeing as deliveries to the airline, not to the leasing company.
You are 100% wrong. If you are using Boeing's monthly delivery reports as the basis for your argument then you should stop as Boeing haven't shown any consistency in how they index the true customer for as long as I can remember. Suffice to say that none of 8 frames delivered to Avolon thus far have been sale and lease backs, they are Avolon's own orders.
I forgot the deliveries listed by Boeing as CIT are also Avolon. But before they bought CIT Avolon already "delivered" new frames to their customer, which were actually sale and lease back deals that were made before the aircraft was delivered. If you say that they only took delivery of 8 frames, it's only because of the deliveries from the CIT order, they will most likely tell us that they took delivery of many more.
So yes, you are correct that they are not a new customer, but it will be the 1st delivery of a frame from their own order placed in 2014 before the CIT deal.
