Who’s booked to get the 1000th 787?

I’ve been sent a photo from a friend, of various TUI Airways registrations from their engineering department at LGW.

TUI are set to receive their final two -9s this month, (G-TUIN and G-TUIO)

However there is also a G-TUIP registration... Does anyone know if this is a new aircraft hasn’t been announced or if it’s just a transfer from one of its other European airlines?

Singapore Airlines took the 1000th 747 too. Pretty surprised they are taking 1000th 787 too, I would've thought it would be one of Qatar, American, ANA or United since they're biggest buyers for 787 family.

It's even 75 if you also include the Scoot and Vistara orders, the SIA group is one of the largest 787 customer.

Sounds from the audio like the carpet issue was found during the delivery flight QF6027 PAE-LAX (which was also a performance test flight hence the unusual route). QF asked for some feedback on the issue so it could be sorted after arrival in LAX (perhaps a rep from QR was onboard for the delivery flight ).

While all of you are correct in your own way, what I meant was the mainline service Singapore Airlines only. Comparing to the others, ANA has 83, United 64, Qatar 60 and American 67, Singapore Airlines has significantly lesser on order comparatively. Combining the Group, they will have 75 that's a big one.

This will be N12010, UA’s 10th 78J. N14011 is right behind it. Parts are arriving for N29975, the 26th 789.
If I count correctly UA will have 11 new 777/787s by end of March ‘20

In Boeing's order update for last month there was an order for 2 787-9, GE engines by an unidentified customer, at the same time the Biman order book was reduced by 2 787-9. So this means that Biman will get these 2 787-9s earlier, but via a different order.

It's also worth mentioning that the original orders for the Hainan orders have not been fully cancelled yet, even with all the NTUs.

ALC also ordered 5 more 787-9s as a conversion from a part of their 737 MAX order, which was already reported earlier this year. One of the 5 new orders already seems to be allocated as it is already listed with RR engines, the other 4 don't have an engine selection yet. This could be the 787 they placed at MIAT Mongolian Airlines, which was also announced in October. The placement announcement and the order date are both October 3rd.

There was a rumour flying around recently that TUI were looking at more 787s, possibly -10s. I can't imagine any aircraft will transfer in though. With the German division looking at starting long haul with I believe 2 787s (probably -8s), then I suspect the UK arm will be giving up frames rather than taking any from partner airlines.

P/s: Bamboo silently delayed the B787-9 introduction through some of their previous press releases. They first stated that the B789 will arrive in 3Q2019, and then October, then November and the latest, they answered that the 2 B787-9 will be delivered in December via GECAS on a reliable Vietnamese newspaper.

Months ago they also revealed the planned config on their B789:
4F24C274Y (total 302 seats). Low-density config, which is good for 15hrs++ flights such as SGN-LAX, isn't it.
One thing that I saw Vietnamese newspapers were triggered by those 4 first-class seats, which are not even provided by Skytrax's 4-star certification flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on their B789s & A359s.

Not really low density, it's up there with NZs highest density config, low density = QF at 235 over 3 classes of BA at 216 over 4 classes. That's another 6-7t of payload over QF instead of fuel, probably still ok for LAX

It was moved to the flight line a few weeks ago, but has been moved back to storage. We had an Antonov come here and bring in some engines, but they haven't been attached to the Air China. I'm guessing no one really knows what is going to happen with that aircraft.
