While it looks very pretty, what exactly is Boeing using this one for?

They should be able to increase the MTOW beyond the current 228,000kg which would allow more fuel to be carried on routes where the frame is fuel-weight limited.

Bangladeshi news portals confirming that Biman will get 2 ex Hainan 787-9s. Any idea which two Hainan MSNs are left yet to be delivered ? Thought Vistara grabbed all em. 55% less than list price according to the article. That's an amazing deal tbh.

There are up to 10 NTU Hainan frames, including the frames for Hong Kong Airlines that were leases from GECAS. One of the 10 is already delivered to the UAE government. Vistara is taking several, 2 have already been painted. That means that there are 7 frames that could go to Biman. We will probably only know for sure which ones will be taken by them when they return from paint.

It's possitive news for Boeing that they can find new customers for these NTUs this fast. I think this is one of the reasons why the production will only be reduced to 12 frames per month and not any further. There's still plenty demand, it's just China that has slowed down the orders the last couple of years, not firming up slots in 2021 and 2022.

LOTs 15th 787 and the first from Charleston is flying and should be delivered at the end of the month. Was it true that there was a slight delay due to quality issues?

Will Boeing ever launch an ultra long haul version of the 787 to replace the 777-200LR?

That more or less exist in form of the 787-9. And they also have (or had) plans for the 777-8 for this mission

We've discussed it in a number of threads so I would perform a search - especially in the TechOps forum. Such discussion is really not appropriate for this thread.

There is a change coming starting (I think) with AA LN 981. More 789-like. Probably a little lighter. But I haven't been able to find out if performance has changed significantly.

Since Boeing is making the 788 to be 789 like, it would be easy to create a 788LR with the 789 MTOW. But there is no indication that Boeing is doing any such thing.

The 788 is getting the same tail/aft fuselage as the other 787s, that is the change. It is more of a production alteration than any change in performance.

As stated Boeing could easily make a “789 shrink” to boost 788 MTOW and range, but considering they haven’t done so and the A338’s tepid sales I don’t think airlines are really interested in a ULR aircraft of that size.

That must be the 2 NTU Hong Kong Airlines frames, those 2 were GECAS leases. One of the frames was used by Boeing for the testing of the full vinyl livery, the "Dreams Take Flight" frame, see the pictures earlier on this page.

874 was also a Hainan group NTU, originally assigned to Suparna, now delivered to UAE Presidential Flight. And I wouldn't be surprised if 898 will also go to the UAE, as they ordered 2 in August.

Yes, it is good to know Boeing can find customers to take up those NTU fast and not letting them stored in desert. However does anyone know if Boeing is still actively selling LN 11, 17, 19, 315??

CHS 's production line seems to be running behind schedule lately, so I'm betting on the 77W.

Of equal importance, will we see pre-order listings on ebay for UA 77W's or 78J's first ? :)

A quick question on Bamboo's 787...

Last week, Bamboo and GECAS had an official signed and hand over ceremony for two 787. I got some info from people working within the company suggest that these aircraft are MSN62725(LN:752) and MSN62739 (LN:746) and they are currently in SIN getting painted. But as some of you may know..LN752 and LN746 are currently in Hainan livery and flying. If this is true, then the Hainan NTU 787 that some people think Bamboo will take are of different MSN?

Here is the link of the handover ceremony in Vietnamese...You can use Google Translate to rad the contents.

At this moment, the MSN 62725 is still flying in HNA's livery to TLV (https://www.flightradar24.com/CHH743/22b0d906) and MSN 62739 was just landed in Beijing after a HNA's flight from Narita (https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/b-1140). No sign of those 2 airframes was withdrawn from use by Hainan, at least today.

The first Boeing 787-10 for BA G-ZBLA is due to enter the FAL at CHS sometime next week.

I believe the first 2 UA 78J's to sport the new EvoBlu livery are now in production
ln 948 & 950.

Can't wait to see those emerge from the paint hangar :)

I’ve been sent a photo from a friend, of various TUI Airways registrations from their engineering department at LGW.

TUI are set to receive their final two -9s this month, (G-TUIN and G-TUIO)

However there is also a G-TUIP registration... Does anyone know if this is a new aircraft hasn’t been announced or if it’s just a transfer from one of its other European airlines?

P.s: tried to attach the picture, but didn’t know how
