They have a number of new 788s arriving (in excess of the 763s retiring).

How many will they have arriving before June 2020? I know a few PHL routes (MAN, ZRH) are supposed to migrate to the 788 for next summer too.

I wouldn't be surprised if they terminate the 3x weekly AA ORD-NRT flight and reallocate that frame to ORD-Europe, with JL taking over the 2nd TYO frequency (and probably moving one of the two over to HND).
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

What destinations did we see in 2019 that won't be back in 2020?

Haven't seen a delivery schedule by month, but AA is scheduled to receive 12 B788s during 2020. Two are already showing on the build schedule for Everett. AA can also meter the rate they park the remaining B767 (to a certain degree).

Like my friend said maybe the route that’ll be terminated is the second flight to Madrid out of DFW.With that Iberia might take over flying the A350 or A330

Hate to burst your bubble, but I doubt IB will replace the second frequency on the DFW-MAD pairing.

So, the new routes to Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic are until the end of October according to the press release.

Does anyone know if Athens from ORD has been extended to include October too in 2020? It ends at the end of September this year. There is nothing about the length of seasons of other routes in the press release other than the new ones.

I would think if the brand new ones are until the end of October then Athens would be too considering how well it's been doing. It would be nice to have an official confirmation though.

Now that AA has released their new International routes for next summer when do they release their new domestic routes?

I know in the video Vasu spoke about possibly lengthening some seasonal routes. One example given was ORD-FCO, maybe there will be some clarification soon how long ATH will operate next season out of ORD. However, I would assume PHL-ATH would be lengthened first since it is the more established route.

They’re usually released more into the year. Last year there was a set announced in October and December, followed by a few in early 2020 I believe.

I don’t remember seeing this anywhere else, but it looks like ORD-HNL is operating a full 6 months this year into next (November to May) on 788’s or 789’s depending on the day ... as compared to the very limited time last year.

Also, it looks ORD-LAS and ORD-PHX are both going to see daily 788’s come November.

Nice. It seems there just cannot be enough service to Hawaii. Curious if AA will being back DFW-KOA as well?

It’s currently operating and will return in December, again on the 772.

KOA's already been loaded. In fact, DFW-KOA is operating right now and apparently has been operating over the summer.

For the peak period this winter, it looks like there will be...

3x DFW-HNL - 2x 772, 1x 788
3x DFW-OGG - All 772(Wow)
1x DFW-KOA - 772

2x ORD-HNL - 788

6x LAX-HNL - LAA A321
5x LAX-OGG - LAA A321
3x LAX-LIH - LAA A321
2x LAX-KOA - LAA A321

Assuming these were the same frequencies from last year for LAX?

1x PHX-HNL - A333
2x PHX-OGG - A321N
1x PHX-KOA - A321N
2x PHX-LIH - LUS 757

That's a lot of Hawaii.

It's as if there's a force field over DFW that prevents AA 330s from using the airport :-)

Also, when does AA start ITO? lolol

AA really doesn't want to introduce the 787 and 777 at CLT either, it seems.

I don't think the 330s have enough premium seats. It's nuts. Look at DFW-HNL/OGG. Even on the 777, F sells out weeks to months in advance, especially OGG.

Also ORD-SFO and DFW-SFO. ORD-CUN sees a 789 and DFW-CUN sees a 788 again during November.

The LAS 788 flight is a triangle routing: ORD-LAS-DFW-ORD.

Good to see an increase in short haul widebody flying to warm weather destinations during the winter months!
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

Speaking of CUN, did AA end its BNA/MCI and a few other cities to Cancun service? I'm no longer seeing it.

Winter & Saturday only right? I'm not seeing them in Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb unless I'm looking wrong.

Still, this is nothing like back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when service to the West Coast from ORD was mostly widebodies (DC-10s, 762s, and 763s). That included SEA, SFO, LAX, SAN, PHX, and LAS.

Winter & Saturday only right? I'm not seeing them in Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb unless I'm looking wrong.

Yeah, I haven't seen any of those flights loaded since last Feb/March. I'm wondering if they're gone permanently (there was/is competition from DL on most or all of them). However, I do still see BOS-PLS/MBJ/PUJ/CUN for W20 Saturdays. I've been wondering when those will fall by the wayside with B6 and DL both competing in the same markets and with the continued cuts in BOS P2P routes.
This is my signature until I think of a better one.

AA to launch weekly (Saturday) service from Boston to the Cayman Islands

https://www.routesonline.com/news/38/ai ... -jan-2020/

Whilst its only once a week, so nothing to write home about, it seems so conflict with AA's recent strategy in Boston of drawing themselves down to their hubs.

Is the A321neo going to take Hawaii from the 757 in PHX? I'd imagine it can do it right?

Yes, it's replacing all PHX-Hawaii this winter except Kona I believe. It'll remain a 757 for now.

Why Kona? It doesn't need the performance!

What do you mean it doesn't need the performance?

Also, I just rechecked. Kona is receiving a neo this winter. Lihue will remain a double daily 752.

While that may be the case domestically, I don’t think they’ve recently canceled any of their seasonal Caribbean routes from BOS.
