Good news - we're adding another brand-new 777F freighter to the AeroLogic fleet in 2019: “We are delighted to be in a position to put four brand-new freighters into operation this year. This will effectively modernize our own fleet at our Frankfurt Airport base and further boost our efficiency and reliability,” says Peter Gerber, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo. This sounds like deliveries IMO.

Well a bit of both. Lufthansa Group only has 2 infilled orders, both for LH, ordered this year with the Swiss B77W. This means an unidentified order last year consists of at least 1 777F for AeroLogic and I assume the 4th will be a 3rd for LH, seeing as AeroLogic is only getting one. This means the two extra are unidentified from 2018 or potentially not on the order books yet although this is unlikely.

Not a new order, but QR has converted 10 of their 50 A321neo on order to A321LR.

From Reuters:

DUBAI, Jan 31 (Reuters) - Qatar Airways has upgraded an existing order for 50 Airbus AIR.PA A321neo jets to include 10 long-range models, as a regional diplomatic rift has forced the airline to fly longer routes.

The airline said on Thursday that 10 of those 50 aircraft would now be the A321LR, to be delivered from 2020.

A321s are the larger version of Airbus' best-selling A320 narrow-body jet.

The airline said longer range A321s will help it launch flights to new markets where there is currently not enough demand for larger aircraft but which are out of reach of smaller A320s.

Airbus Orders January 2019

0 Gross Orders
-13 Net Orders (-5 x A220, -8 x A380)

- No orders to report for January.
- The A380 cancellation is Qantas.
- Also 5 A220-100s have been cancelled, this appears to be the entirety of PrivatAir's order. They ceased operations in Dec 2018 so makes sense it's cancelled.

The order for 4 787-9 and 4 787-10 is listed with GE engines, it would not surprise me if this is United, especially with the 737s thrown into the mix.

The order for 10 787-9 has no engine selection, it could be a new customer.

I was thinking United for those 787s too. Although maybe odd with the 737? They ordered 24 more last month although very possible.

A good start to the year for Boeing anyway.

I could see the 6x 737 being UA also, add that to their previous 24 and it rounds out to a solid 30 aircraft.

So happy to see some new orders for the 787-10 which seems to have slowed down of late. Hoping to see some 777-9 orders this year too!

No formal release from either Boeing or Etihad. Only rumours at this stage. Same with possible other Etihad cancellations. This thread is just for confirmations only.

In theory you are correct as previous orders were 40 A359 and 22 A35K, supposedly??? But I just copy and pasted from the Airbus press release which implies they had 42 A359 and 20 A35K on order and ALL A359 (Totalling 42) are cancelled??

I guess we’ll see with February update in the beginning of March.

Based on this and the Emirates juggling Airbus is net -24 aircraft for the year as reported so far.

Definitely not a good start to the year for them so far (although I agree the 380 thing had to happen).

Does the 380 cancellations not mean other order will have to be removed as well (as are there not other 380s in the backlog that will never be delivered at this point, beyond EK and whoever the heck it was taking up the 3, ANA I think... )
I don't care what you think of my opinion. It's my opinion, so have a nice day :)

A380s left is 14 for Emirates and the 3 ANA frames.

As for other cancellations it's 39 for Emirates, 8 for Qantas (last month). Also the 20 for Amedeo and 3 for Air Accord, that to be honest were never happening have also been formally cancelled today.

Yes they have been formally removed today too. Just 17 left in the backlog. (14 for EK and 3 for NH).

So pending any other announcements it is -47 for the year. 42 of those being wide bodies definitely hurts the backlog value (but as you quite rightly stated many of those were just never happening).

I am interested to see what A's next move is at this point. I wonder if at this point they focus solely on process engineering and efficiency for a year and see what Boeing moves at next.

Yes I believe so. I’m sure more orders will come along. Possibly this month and almost definitely a load in Paris Air Show, (for both Airbus and Boeing). By December I’m sure both A & Bs numbers are good. Who wins this year is another story. Definitely was Boeing last year. The widebody numbers are the key and Boeing has been doing well recently. I’m sure Airbus will pick up the pace though too.

Bamboo Airways to buy 10 more 787-9 from Boeing next week. This is in addition to the 20 787-9 on a MOU/LOI from before.

Perhaps this could firm up the MOU too? I don’t think it’s on Boeing’s order books yet.

The order was previously booked as unidentified. They must have been firmed it in parts over the last 2 years as there's no single unidentified order for 100 MAX on the order book.

The order was previously booked as unidentified. They must have been firmed it in parts over the last 2 years as there's no single unidentified order for 100 MAX on the order book.

This is the one from Farnborough 2018. The 2016 for 100 is a seperate order. Now 200 Total.

Maybe booked as unifentified in Feb 2019 so technically we haven’t seen the update yet? Have there been 100 unidentified since July 2018? I guess we’ll see in about two weeks with the Boeing Feb Update.

They won't say it was booked previously as unidentified if it was booked earlier in the same month.

There was one order for 125 737s on 24-Dec-2018, it could be 2 orders added up, both firmed up on the same day. We will know March 12 when they announce the February numbers.

China Southern has stated it has converted 2 x 777-300ER orders to 2 x B777F.

The rest of its B777-300ER and 737 MAX order remains.

25 x A320neo cancellation was from Germania. As they ceased operations this year, hardly surprising.

Not a good month at all for Airbus. Cancellations for the year at -103, with 4 (A220) orders. I'm sure they'll turn it around and go and get hundreds of orders at Paris!

The 49 deliveries are quite impressive though.
Looking forward to an intense fight for the most deliveries this year.
