The only way I see how the driver reversed into that position was if 1. Their foot slipped/missed the brake pedal and hit the gas or 2. They were preparing to pull away and accidentally had the vehicle in reverse. Either way, yikes. Glad that no one was injured though.

My apologies. The news article linked in the first post stated that no injuries were reported.

Same type of thing happened last month at IAH. Lav truck was positioning to service a UaX Erj175 (Mesa Airlines) when the driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake. Back end of the truck got quite wedged under the plane but the cab and driver were intact. Took about three weeks to repair the aircraft.

It didn't when I originally posted the story. It said one person was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The ambulance can even be seen on the ramp in the attached video, and at the very end you can see a person on a stretcher being loaded into the back of the ambulance. I guess he was ok once checked out at the hospital.

Given the looks of the truck cab I’d say he got a face full of airbag at worst.

Ripped off the door to the controls for the cargo door and the VHF antenna. Thankfully no other damage other than some scratching. Hopefully the driver is mostly okay.

Considering that catering and fuel trucks require guidepersons to approach the aircraft, I’m surprised that lav trucks don’t.

I always see them with guide persons, but a guide person can’t stop someone hitting the wrong pedal or a mechanical malfunction.
Lighten up while you still can, don't even try to understand, just find a place to make your stand and take it easy

Same thing happened to a SY 737 in LAS (Transavia PH-HXA) recently. Lav Service truck backed underneath the airplane ripping into the skin. It sat for some time in LAS and then ferried to VCV where it was repaired.
