Looking forward to see a 777 in BOAC livery. How about a DreamLiner in BCal's?

They might confuse a dragon on the tail with a Welsh themed jet haha.

On a serious note i always wished for BA to do some retro jets. Imagine if (for example) they painted 7 of their 8 787-8s in all the various retro/pre-amalgamted colours, and 1 modern 787. Either way, a BOAC aircraft will look amazing!

Thatcher's been long gone...is time they resurrected the World Tails...I thought it was great. Not knocking their current livery..but WT was cool IMHO.

BA's livery looked quite dated, I didn't know it was so dated Ms. Thatcher unveiled it!
Hope for a white / royal blue livery like the one on early 747's.

I thought the world tails were fantastic.

I would hope for retro liveries on the newer aircraft that never wore them originally. Everyone's seen a landor 744, but imagine it on a 789. Or the negus livery on an A320.

That isn't an unveiling - it is Lady Thatcher's reaction to the "World Tails" scheme that she thought diminished the value of "British Airways." Can't say that I disagree with her sentiment.

would be great to see the A380 or 787 feature in the retro liveries... an A380 in BOAC livery I am sure would look amazing... I hope they don't just paint a few narrow bodies for the celebrations... do a proper job and get some wide bodies in the mix

A350 Landor, BOAC 787-10 and BEA A321neo? Pretty solid combo imo. Maybe a BCal too but I doubt they will.

I was told from a normally reliable source that BA have two 744's heading to DUB in the next few weeks for a paint job. This isn't to say they'll be in any special livery, but just that they are getting a lick of paint. Although BA do some of their painting in DUB anyway, so it wouldn't be unusual to see them in (normally 777's).

Although I much prefer the classic BOAC blue, one should not entirely forget their original colors, even if they are tame by today's standards (isn't that half the point?)

The A318 at London City in that BOAC Comet livery would be epic :) They're similar sized aircraft.

and
#B Cal

[shameless plug for my old photos] ;)
Sounds too good to be true.. although haven't British Airways got some sort of anniversary celebrations coming up?

Would BA have the rights to the scheme? They sold off Caledonian after all when they disposed of the charter business

From a marketing and branding standpoint, they were literally meaningless. Being all things to all men meant nothing to most people. Some were good, Chelsea Rose, Benyhone and Colum had British routes and were effective but the more abstract yli got, the less on brand they were. Ayling Airways was positioned to be a world airline based in the UK, whereas Eddington rightly saw BA as a British airline serving the world.
By the time you got to African tribal art and Devonshire pottery parked next to Canadian whaling abstract at T4, the penny dropped they’d gone too far. In the 22 years since, no one has copied the strategy, with good reason. Turkish serves more of the world than BA ever did but is there a call for their tailfins to be so adorned? Anyone fancy odds on an Emirates Japanese themed bird livery? No.

If 747s then Landor, Negus and BOAC are likely. Though for legal reasons the BOAC one would need BA titles (allegedly), though Negus font would be historically accurate. The only other 747 the group had would be BCAL, and we can but dream.

I can imagine them doing something similar to what American does on their retrojets, vintage look, feel, and graphical elements, but American still written clearly.

Livery will be unchanged from the current scheme, plus the Chatham Flag tail design repeated on the wing tips.

As BOAC, BEA, Cambrian Airways & Northeast Airlines are the original 4 airlines that were merged to create the British Airways we know today, it would make sense that they made 4 special liveries for these airlines. It would be nice to see Landor back on one of the 747's

Well BA is celebrating its centenary this year but has never been afraid to acknowledge that its origins are through an amalgamation of various airlines. However, it is also the 45th anniversary of the Negus & Negus scheme and 35th anniversary of the Landor scheme. So if it is four retro 747s I'd love to see:
  • BOAC as used on the originally delivered 747-136s
  • "British" version of the Negus & Negus colours
  • Landor but on an aircraft that wore it and with its "City of" name restored
  • British Caledonian to acknowledge that a chunk of BA's longhaul routes came from acquiring the Gatwick based airline

But I'd hope there are some short haul retro liveries as well. The last three above plus:
  • British Midland 1980s colours to honour its role in being allowed LHR access to compete with BA
  • BEA red wing/red box logo livery
  • Dan-Air to honour the fact that purchasing the bulk of DA laid the foundations for BA's 1990s expansion at LGW

Heck, could even go for original BOAC jet colours on a medium haul A321.
Let's Go British Caledonian!

They will remove the EU flag? Sorry moving on here

Btw I know that don't have the EU flag on the livery in contrast to some other airlines.

Man I hope whatever four schemes they use will be on 747s! Not only would that be so cool, but they could paint over those horrid “One World” titles. Those ruin the elegance of the queen for me, but if they traded that for some retros, that would be super elegant! Plus being in DEN, that means we may get them on the ground here!

Come on BA! You’d make a lot of us happy doing that!

You say, "The more abstract you got, the less on brand they were." No doubt. But they were beautiful, every one of them, and a delight to the eye. And not reminding us every second how wonderful the UK is! That's why people like Thatcher hated them. They expanded the horizons, and she was a Brexiter before her time.
