No confirmation of this by any reputable source. Just the 3 747s and A319. It's not happening and don't trust TPG. Although that last bit of advice goes for most things.

In fact just read the article TPG blatantly copied from and linked that explicitly says BA won't add a retro livery to new A350s.

BA says all new aircraft entering the fleet, including the A350, will continue to receive the current Chatham Dockyard design.

So I don't know what TPG are doing/smoking, but it must be some heavy stuff to misunderstand the copied article so blatantly.

Thanks for debunking this, george77300. I’m not sure why TPG is spreading false information.

They do that a lot. Not somewhere to look for quality, original and factually correct content. :stirthepot: I would always suggest double checking any "news" read on TPG with other more reputable sources.

Usually the articles they blatantly rip from another blog like this the facts are correct at least, but in this case they have copied the article but changed some stuff to make it incorrect. The logic eludes me... :scratchchin:

All jokes aside and my personal despise for their content, but it is often incorrect or blatantly copied in my (admittedly rather biased) opinion, but in this case they are 100% incorrect. :white:

RE: the red wings for the A319 BEA livery, I just saw this written on FB: "The composites on the upper wing are very sensitive to UV and solar absorptivity of colours is such that usually only colours lighter than grey are acceptable (with higher reflectivity). The combination meant that we were only able to get agreement for the underside of the wings and winglets in red. "

There will be no A350. The four are:

BNLY - Negus & Negus
BYGC - BOAC
CIVB - Landor
EUPJ - BEA red square

It’s still a good effort to paint any of the wings red though. Of interest, how does Alitalia’s inscription of their logo effect their A32x fleet? I’m looking forward to the BEA scheme, I think it will look great. Wonder what winglets they are talking about?

That's fair, at least they tried to get permission for it.

It is still going to look excellent in pictures though, especially inflight, as you don't usually see the tops of the wings in those images.
I do enjoy a spot of flying, especially when it's not in economy!

It’s a shame no solid silver imperial colours or Caledonian or Dan air . It also would be worth doing a pre imperial . Maybe air transport and travel . It is clever marketing seeing as the 100 anniversary of international air travel coming up

That's a bit of a puzzling info and asks for more detailing. BDs tailplanes were red and composites...

G-BNLY departed Heathrow for Dublin yesterday to be painted in the 1973 Negus colours. #memories

In other news, given the BOAC livery is going to be flying until 2023, I believe it is going to be tweaked. Firstly it won’t be getting washed very often and in honour of BOAC’s initial 747 operation, will be parked up for about a year. Once that’s over with, it’s going to have “British airways” Negus titles added for a further year or so, replacing the BOAC branding, then in addition, the tailfin will also be resprayed in Negus Union Flag Colours before the titles are once again replaced by the single word “British”. Any attempt to respray into full Negus livery will be postponed until it’s too late and G-BYGC will be retired as such. You heard it here first!

It appears BNLY will be painted in Landor rather than Negus as originally thought. I assume CIVB will now receive the Negus livery.

The red thing on the wing doesn't sound right to me. If that was the case, what about all the airlines using red on the cowlings and rudders and things?
a lot of that is all composites. Also out of curiosity, as I wasn't alive at the time of the merger, was the chatline black or a really dark midnight blue? Just like SIA it can be hard to tell when you're not up close.

I understand that they can't use anything than a pale grey on the upperside of the wings, perhaps someone else can help out here? And as for the cheatline, as a veteran of The Queens Building circa 1960's I can unhesitatingly say that it was black.

That makes sense. Those old Tridents would have had thick metal wings and nowhere near the range.
hence not as long to heat up. Still at least they tried to do it where they could.

I hope they do too and maybe next to Concorde at LHR?

I think the 3 744s and A319 in flight together like they did with 4 concordes 30 years ago would look great.
Maybe add a fifth plane in current scheme and you have a nice shot of 5 planes in formation.

The problem is that everyone always uses airliners.net photo base as an example, google images and Flickr have a far better selection of photos to observe these sort of things.

I appreciate the fact that you took the time to respond and uploading a photo to verify my comments :-)

My humble apologies. If I had bothered to open up some photos rather than looking at the thumbnails it would have been obvious; this one shows it well:

What a stunning paint job! Amazing a many decades old livery can make a pedestrian looking aircraft like the A319 look better. (Most modern aircraft are pedestrian looking, compared to the many variations of aircraft that wore this livery).

I cannot say I am enthusiastic about the Landor one though, maybe it's because to my mind, 'Retrojet' means putting an old livery on a modern aircraft, BA 744's few Landor for around the first decade of service, plus the 'fag packet' wasn't widely loved, at least within BA.
But I understand the need for it, with the 100 years and all that, it would look odd omitting it.
Maybe better to have cleaned and painted G-BOAB in Landor, it looked great on Concorde, while it cannot fly t of pax would see it.

Have they done anything with the interior such as headrests and seat covers?

Also do ATC refer to them on RT as BEA or BOAC? “Line up after the BOAC 747 / BEA A319”

Wouldn't it be nice to refresh Concorde G-BOAB at LHR into original Negus colours too ? I guess that could be achieved on site without full paint shop facilities, given the sparseness of the scheme.

You are quite right. It just shows how stylish and wonderfully designed the Red Square livery was. And how modern it still looks

I was never a fan of anything after that, especially that blue thing with the chopped up Union Flag. Amateurish. And Landor & fag packet? Gimme a break.

The Chatham just about gets away with it design-wise, just..but you can't get better than a gold Speedbird on Navy Blue
