Any ideas on what it could be?

G4 just annouced a few things and NK did RDU so I dont think its one of those two..
F9? Cant see much that would be exciting news for the state from them.

That they specifcally mentioned for the state makes me doubt its B6 who would serve existing destinations only.

Most likely AM to MEX or a transpacific flight from the use of those words for the state... but both seem a bit far out for the moment.

So then either those as a stretch or AC to YUL ... or Contour to FWA, SBN, CLE, etc. (and no Im not being completely! sarcastic)?

(edit) Contour not Via

What about the non-stop flight to Asia that "Indy" said was guaranteed to happen before the end of 2018?

2 out of the first four comments on facebook were hoping for B6 so its safe to say the Hoosier will welcome them with open arms.

Any way to tell if the governor attending? Seems like that’s the precedent set for international at least.

Is Indy really big enough to support a TPAC flight? They have a single TATL flight to Paris.

The only other non-hubs I know of with Asia flights are Portland, Boston, San Diego, San Jose and Vegas.

Portland has 4 TATL flights, Vegas and Boston are given, San Diego has 3 TATL and San Jose is pretty much part of the Bay Area.

Even Denver only has a single TPAC flight to the 8-10 TATL flights.

I was actually being sarcastic. I was viciously attacked on the main IND thread when I stated the same facts that you did. I agree, there is absolutely no way IND is getting a TPAC flight anytime soon, but that won't stop some on the IND thread insisting that it's going to happen.

Based on MidwestIndy's picture, the flags of Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru (in addition to Canada, US, Indiana, and Indianapolis city) would suggest a Latin American link of some sort. Maybe something like VivaAerobus (they serve Nashville - similar non-hub city with some potential for VFR and leisure traffic).

Money talks. If the airport is paying them enough, they'll fly it.

Doesn't sound like a route announcement to me unless it is some sort of base/focus city announcement or something. Not going to be some single one off route though. Any Fedex expansion rumors or anything?

If its AM it'll be Aerolitoral dba Aeromexico Connect. If it's DL it could be an E170/175.

DTW-GDL is an E190 and DL used to run the E170/175 to MTY, so yeah.

Though the choice of having a Peruvian, Brazilian, and Columbian flag in there could possibly indicate something else. LATAM has branches in all 3 of those countries (with Peru and Brazil being some of their largest) so it begs to question if LATAM is involved. I highly doubt it though. Right now, LATAM doesn't serve US markets like ORD, IAD, SFO, SEA, DEN, and IAH. You'd think those cities along with a handful of other cities would be way ahead of IND on LATAM's radar. Plus IND isn't really looking at flights to South America. And besides that, it would probably have to be widebody service. So it's definitely not LATAM.

Avianca also has its largest branch based in Columbia and has decent sized branches in Brazil and Peru. I believe AV does serve more US markets than LATAM does right now. More notably, AV uses A319s on routes like BOG-BOS/JFK/IAD. With that being said, an A319 would have the legs to make IND-BOG without much of an issue. If it were to be AV launching services to IND, that would explain the 3 South American flags. Is it going to be AV? Pretty doubtful.

AM/DL to MEX or AC to YUL are still way ahead of the other possibilities. I'd put BA to LHR on a 787-8 as the third most likely candidate as BA has been expanding into medium sized US markets like BNA, CHS, and MSY with the 788. IND is a market that fits that mold for what BA is doing. I'd probably put CM in 4th as they have a pretty strong US network and can make PTY-IND without a hitch. That one is still unlikely. AV would probably round out the top 5 solely due to the South American flags being displayed. So yeah, it'll most likely be some form of international RJ service to either Canada or Mexico. But that's better than nothing.

This is my best guess.

https://www.ibj.com/articles/70657-20m- ... al-flights

"In another effort, she said, Indianapolis has submitted a bid to host the Routes Americas airline conference in February 2020. The annual three-day event typically attracts about 90 global airline decision-makers and 800 or more airport and aviation professionals."

If I'm right, kind of surprised the governor will be there.

Actually I think that is a pretty solid guess. That would explain the variety of flags.

I'm betting that's what it is. Makes the most sense with the flags they have displayed.

I'm thinking that the LATAM flags are there because of connections through MEX. The Canadian Flag is just an oddball. For me, I do not think that IND-YUL will start, but something makes me think that there is something else up their sleeve.

the governor in CT attended the announcement of BDL-DEN for 3 X weekly so I'm not sure you can expect anything great with any governor. That being said. F9 made a big announcement the other day, but then they announced Branson outside, so they could be going for 3 in a row, but Branson was tiny compared to Tuesday's announcement with ANC included.

Tuesday was big with NK's announcement in Charlotte, I wouldn't be surprised to see them with a big announcement for IND in the same week.

Typically these announcements with teaser's end up being less than exciting.

What’s IND connection to Mexico? I don’t think of it as a place heavily populated with Mexican American community but my thinking may be dated.
