Iberia schedules its first A350 service to Latin America

Fri Jan 18, 2019 1:33 am

Iberia has put a date to its first regularly scheduled A350 service to Latin America, to Buenos Aires EZE.

First flight will be on Feb 24th on the daytime southbound flight, as follows:

IB6845 MAD 12:05 EZE 21:00 359
IB6844 EZE 22:45 MAD 14:35+1 359

Initially, the 350 will alternate with the 340 on selected days until more 350s arrive to the fleet. The southbound night time flight continues to be on the A346 and the southbound mid-morning flight, on the A332.

Thanks for the info! I wonder how they are doing this when they have the 2 A350s that they have committed to JFK and the next one coming committed to Chicago. I hope they don't take it off Chicago, I am due to fly on it in June to ORD!

EZE and ORD, as A350 destinations, were announced simultaneously by Iberia, with EZE starting in February and then ORD in May. Iberia will add 3 A350s in 2019 so you should be OK.

May be a little bit off topic, but still related to IB and Latin America

Does anyone know if IB is seriously considering flying to MTY?
In the last months I have seen so many adds on the streets of Monterrey and San Pedro about IB Business Class services.

It seems they are trying to create some brand awareness.
Though people here know the brand "Iberia", few would ever consider it, as it has never have any presence in the city. Their only other oneworld partner in town is American Airlines. Interjet also codeshares flights via MEX.

Hopefully one day we will have nonstop flights to Europe once again.
Next flight: IAH-DBX-MRU-ANT

Iberia has grown quite a lot in the MAD-MEX route over the last years.
They offer between 2 and 3 daily flights to MEX.
It'd be surprising to see them deploying any flights to cities like Monterrey or San Pedro, but who knows...

I’m not sure if codesharing is done with AM, otherwise travelers del Norte would have to bus or buy separate fares to access IB’s service.

Thanks! Do we know the delivery schedule of the new A350s in 2019 for IB?

There probably is a very basic and standard interline agreement between IB and AM. Having said that, I believe IB has a specific codeshare agreement with Interjet.
Upcoming flights:
April/May: AM MEX-SCL 788 (J), AM EZE-MEX 789 (J).

Not off the top of my head. But it has to be in the first two quarters of this year. While ORD and JFK can be flown daily with one frame each, EZE needs two frames for a daily operation.

L/N 271 EC-NBE "Museo del Prado" delivered yesterday (25/1) at TLS and flown to MAD, 3rd A350-900 for IB. This is the aircraft that will allow the addition of EZE to the routes flown by IB's A350 (JFK being the other).
