Former Air Algérie 767 being ferried to YUL 1/18.

Boeing 767 -3D6 24766 310 7T-VJG Air Algérie ferried 18jan19 ALG-SNN-YUL, basic cs
(Skyliner)

I guess it's on its way to be shreded, unless it could be converted to serve for Prime. Since it's not a longranger, it must have clocked many cycles.

YUL isn’t a place they use for conversions.

Few months ago, Air Algerie has announced that it has found an acquirer for the 3 767 (7T-VJG, 7T-VJH, 7T-VJI) it wanted to withdraw from the fleet but the name was not given

According to some Air Algerie FB fan pages an operator in Florida is the final destination of this 767 and the 2 others. YUL is just a stopover and the end of the last flight of this machine as AH

Interesting. Who could need three 1990 non-ER 767s?

Maybe OPF or MLB for parts? I can't see any value in these as flying frames at age 28, especially non-ER models.

Funny how they added the rego at the front. Anyway, it's landed at YUL after a seven hours flight from SNN.

I'm curious to know who's crew is flying the bird from YUL... Air Algerie's crew, or the new owner's?

Anyways, belle photo de la grosse pomme...

As a longtime reader of Skyliner, that really means nothing to me. They are extremely eager to say part out/scrap (as they have said with every DL MD-90 parked so far, though there is insistence they are parked while engine overhauls are happening).

There's a big MRO in Tampa, not a place where scrapping typically happens oi I'll be convince of its fate when we see parts getting chopped out.

They're definitely not at idle. Looks to me like it was taken really high up looking down from he cockpit.

Interesting the second aircraft didn't stop at YUL but instead went straight to PSM.

I wonder why they flew such a route instead of using a more direct one such as using SMA in the Azores, as this airport is regularly used as a "pit" for refueling among other things?

Perhaps a matter of ETOPS west of SMA. Those were used for domestic and regional flights only.

It turns out you can part-out and scrap an airliner anywhere. These types of operations are popping up all over the place.
Similarly up in Crestview, FL (KCEW) where numerous airliners have met their fate, including KLM MD-11, Korean Air A300, etc.
People are saying. Believe me.

VJG was ferried with AH crew. The AH 76s were not used intensely even at their younger age. A few years ago they have been WFU then returned to service after a longer storage to fill in the demand during the high season of Summer and Hajj and do some backup. Glad they managed for a transaction for a bunch of millions.

As for the two others, it will probably stop at PSM where, as for the second, it will become a JTN flight instead of AH. Thus, if necessary they may just delay it until weather in Central Florida gets better.

KBKV has an ILS just as low as TPA and an RNAV that’s pretty low as well. I’d think if they can get into TPA they could get into TPA.

I shot the RNAV for 3 at BKV yesterday. I swear I saw three very large jets there with matching liveries already.

That was my question too. I flew in there yesterday and saw them and was a bit confused why they’d be there. I wonder if they are just parked / waiting to be shuttled over to PEMCO at TPA?

That looks like a very rural airport. I hope they took precautions to disable to aircraft.

BKV has a Cat-III ILS?

I assumed (maybe wrongly) that the Air Algerie 767 and crew weren’t CAT-III capable. Either way the ceiling at BKV today is 800 AGL which is good enough for ILS and the RNAV so if they can make it into TPA they can make it into BKV

Flightaware shows the PSM-BKV flight as "Jet Test 9021", arriving 21:33 Sunday. We'll see...

The local Medivac helicopters often go back and forth between BKV and their hospitals in the Tampa Bay area, I have no idea why.

Even more telling this is a genuine photo are the around 250kts IAS on the Airspeed Indicators and both the Attitude Director Indicator and the Standby Attitude Indicator showing the same bank angle as the terrain outside the window.

I would assume to refuel. The John Hopkins All Children helicopter refuels over at SPG. My guess is BKV is “close enough” and has better fuel prices than TPA and the other area ones. Just guessing.
