With winter storm Harper being a mostly non event snow and ice wise, why? Delta, B6's most direct competitor at BOS, hasn't cancelled a single flight. Did B6 hit the panic button to soon? Is there another reason why B6 has cancelled all flights at BOS? Same with AA, only one or two cancelled BOS flights.
Not really picking on B6 but again, this shows how vulnerable a carrier can be when they place most of their assests in two of the biggest east coast cities prone to weather delays and cancellations. You would think B6 by now, with close to 20 years in the business, would have a better meteorology and operations department.
How do you explain this to the business traveler who needs to get to XXX and he/she sees the rest of airlines at BOS operating all their flights and pretty much on time? If B6 wants to be the dominant airline at BOS, they really should start to act like one. There is a lot more involved than just saying you have the most flights at BOS, you also need to have a solidly run operation and after what I am seeing today, that is not the case.

LY15 from TLV just aborted landing and are circling.
Flightradar 24 looks like spaghetti around BOS.

Still fresh in my mind is 2017’s total meltdown by DAL for trying to operate a full schedule at ATL. 5 days of misery from a small event for untold number of DAL customers.

Now, for the rest of us who don’t have an agenda. WX is HARD. It’s tough to predict exactly how things are going to play out and how it’s going to effect your operation. Winter storms can change from snowpocalypse to nothing with a couple of degree temp change.

No it should not be deleted. I am the OP. Name one claim I made about DL in this thread. This is about B6 cancelling all their flights to/from BOS with weather that for the most part, is relatively calm.
I have no idea where you live, however, coming from someone who lives 10 minutes away from Logan, I can promise you we got dumped with a nice 6-8 inches of snow which was followed by a nice amount of freezing rain and a rapidly dropping temperature. Not really "relatively calm" weather. For more info go read the BOS forum where FGIDT (who works in Logan) described what's actually going on there.
It’s clear this thread wasn’t started with the intention of focusing on facts.

ncflyer wrote:I'm not sure I get why this is even a question. B6 has access to a lot more weather information than any of us, I'm sure they are not making a decision to lose millions of dollars due to cancelled operations lightly. Enough planes skidding off runways in recent days.

An earlier poster commented that a plane was sitting in MSY, but the flight was canceled. This became a more standard practice toward the end of my time working at JetBlue so that the fleet would be best positioned to launch upon better circumstances.
After spending enough years at the company to form an educated opinion, I believe that JetBlue's biggest issue with IROPs isn't about airport conditions at all. Their issue was - and still somewhat is - more about positioning assets (planes, crew, etc) for restart.
Also, re: Northeast flying, for those keeping score on Sunday's regional operations.
BOS-PIT
JetBlue operated 0
Delta operated 0
BOS-ROC
JetBlue operated 0
Delta operated 0
BOS-JFK
JetBlue operated 0
Delta operated/is planning to operate 3 of 5 (the early AM departure is only now waiting for takeoff at 19:17 local and the other 2 are still delayed)
BOS-LGA
JetBlue operated 1
Delta operated 2
Not drastically different. I don't know what planet the OP lives on or what drug is being pumped through his veins, but I'd like to be feeling whatever kind of reality he's feeling because it sounds deliriously delicious.

Also quite ridiculous to compare a 1000 flight Atlanta Delta hub vs. Boston JetBlue hub.
