About time. Much prefer a home-based carrier serving this route than the domineering Emirates.

Aeromexico probably started this route so Emirates wouldn't...

So if Emirates goes ahead as planned with the route will AM cancel again the route?

Delta and Aeromexico have every reason to hate Emirates. That is a radical move to saturate the competition, though.

I'll believe it once the plane lands in BCN.

I'd expect them to be more worried about LEVEL starting this route than Emirates - that would really change the dynamic.

Wondering if they are just shifting their 3x daily flight from MAD to BCN?

AM is not shifting any flights from MAD
BCN flights are new flights and they don’t affect MAD flights
summer flights from MAD are 16-18 per week
BCN are not 3 daily, they starting with 3 times per week

Emirates don’t really like to compete, they just saturate markets with oversize aircraft and drive out the competition. They then raise their prices. Corporate dominance is not a good thing.

And...most people seem oblivious to the fact that flying any of the ME3 effectively subsidises what are rather repressive regimes. See also Saudia, Turkish Airlines, Air China and more...

Congrats BCN and AM! Great news.

I also think it is noteworthy that MEX-CDG on AM's metal will be 11x weekly this summer! Cool!

Absolutely. That is how innovation and higher service standards are created.

LOL. I hope not!!!

DL might, but it is highly debatable. AM has absolutely no reason to other than inheriting its parent's hatred for EK.

I am in complete agreement with you. The only reasons why we still don't get Level at MEX is their small widebody fleet and the lack of slots at MEX. I expect Level to eventually land at MEX; I think it is a matter of when, not if.
Upcoming flights:
May: AM MEX-CUN 73H (Y), AM CUN-MEX 73W (Y).
August: KL MEX-AMS 74M (J), KQ AMS-NBO 788 (J).

I'm not sure Level is considering flying to MEX. So far they've mainly relied on millennial folks originating in Barcelona interested in exploring tourist destinations that were unaffordable to them in the past (e.g. California, Argentina, Chile, etc.). I don't think Mexico City is an attractive destination for this segment.
