BAW & 788 service to Caribbean
I'm just curious as to why BAW never deployed the 787-8 to any of their Caribbean stops....I'm sure BGI could fill the 789 easily as they get a lot of high end traffic...... but 788 as the aircraft dubbed as the 767 replacement in terms of size I thought it would be perfect for the NAS & GCM route or is it due to performance out of GCM or too premium heavy in the seat count?

The 777 sent to BGI already has more premium (same economy) seats than the 787-9, and likewise the 777 sent to NAS has more seats in every cabin than a 787-8, so if it was premium seats that are needed, the right aircraft are currently on the route.

A lot of it, correct me if I'm wrong, has to do with sales of premium cabins, as you alluded to. British Airways' 788s are a higher percentage CW (J) seats compared to the total capacity of the aircraft. I believe there are much fewer premium passengers going from LON-NAS/GCM than other more business-oriented destinations (NYC/WAS). It is for the same reason a lot of northern and central African destinations see older aircraft with less premium seating.

Actually if far more to do with the Caribbean network predominantly operating from Gatwick and high leisure demand on most routes.

If the 787-8 was capable of making it to LHR from the 7,000ft runway at GCM, I’m sure BA would be interested in flying LHR-GCM, but I don’t think it can
Other than Nassau, are there any other Caribbean routes that BA flies from LHR?

BA have 3 772 based at LGW that are equiped with First Class for the Caribbean routes, they have it well covered for the premium traffic.

The 777s at Gatwick in both tourist (3-4-3) and premium configurations (4 cabin) are sufficient. Plus, since a lot of the Gatwick routes are less business oriented to begin with, there's no reason to provide the newest and shiniest aircraft.
