routes for DELTA 220's

Sun Feb 03, 2019 11:10 am

Since DL added back DCA- BOS any chance that route could go to the A220?

With a total order of 90 aircraft there must be a plan to put them somewhere. First routes have been announced, loaded, then delayed due to govt shutdown and reloaded. Some West Coast routes started with E75s and grew into 717s, but DCA-BOS needs frequency to be competitive. I see AA 16x on an October Monday.

I don't disagree, but considering they are running it several times a day on LGA-BOS it may be able to fill in otherwise longer sit times.

The shuttles are low utilization markets. The fuel efficiency won’t be fully recognized on such a short segment and the passenger amenities won’t matter.

They will use them on stages long enough to allow the fuel efficiency to matter. Those really short stages could be done by anything. DL has it down to the teaspoon of gas and the penny on costs as far as efficiency planning.

Doesn't mean you wouldn't see the A220 on routes like DCA-BOS. Routers and Planning will put a plane where it needs to be. Numerous flights every day fly routes where their capabilities are not reached. If it gets the plane positioned for an efficient flight they'll do it. Ex IAH-SFO clearly doesn't use the 787s capabilities, but it positions the plane for a route its needed and does. There are Threads about DL's A220 routing, but till its clearly up and running, it's anyones guess really.

I'd love to see BOS, RDU, PDX, SEA, LAX, and JFK - IAH or to HOU as well.

787 on IAH-SFO serves two purposes...it is hub to hub so lots of traffic and it is positioning between latin america and asia.
