Etihad A380 to Seoul

Mon Feb 11, 2019 10:50 am

Etihad today morning has announced that it will be upgrading its daily flights to Seoul to an A380. The route is currently served with the B787-10.

Since launching flights to the city, the airline has flew over 1.2m passengers on the route.

This makes Seoul joining London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, New York JFK and Sydney as a destination served by the airline’s Airbus A380.

Good news from Etihad. I always avoided them on this route because of the uncomfortable 787. But unfortunately, their level of service in economy is below QR or EK.

Great to see ICN recieving another A380 service!

Although I suspect there won’t be enough premium demand to fill F and J cabin up

Interesting! When I moved to Seoul two years ago it was on Etihad's A346. When did they switch to the 787-10?

So the A380 that will be operating to Seoul has been pulled from the second daily Sydney flight. AUH - SYD has been reduced from double daily to daily.

The biggest mistake made by most human beings: Listening to only half, understanding just a quarter and telling double.

Obviously there is some kind of great demand to warrant the 380 to ICN over other high volume markets such as BKK, MNL, CGK, BOM or other European gateways maybe. The decision could also be driven by scheduling and utilization. Still, kind of puzzling to me why Seoul has be the choice?

SYD has lost their second A380 for a while IIRC (except the Christmas/NY rush) and redeployed to CDG.

According to airlineroute twitter account, the second SYD flight will be dropped from 01JUL19 which is the same day ICN will be getting the A380

Airlineroute also reported that probably 2/3 of W18 has only one A380 flights for SYD not two:
